~Chapter 4~

Preview

"Uhm...I'll tell you something which I'm not supposed to. So, Emilio really likes you. He can't stop talking about you, really. The problem is, when Kade found out you're joining the Team 10, he started watching your videos and stuff. He said he always have had a crush on you. He saw Emilio looking at you and figured out what's going on. He said that he and Jake had a deal and if Emilio tries anything with you, we'll both be kicked out of Team 10", he explains

Kenzie's POV

Ivan and I had a talk and honestly, after I've said so much to him and he did, too, I think I have a new friend here. Not that I'm not friends with someone from the house, but you always have some friends that are closer than the others.

Now I know what's going on between the Martinez twins and Kade and Jake. I've actually decided to just let it be for now.

Knowing Emilio kinda likes me is great and stuff but there's this problem. I know how they both love being here and I wouldn't ever do something to get them kicked out.

I never thought Jake would support Kade in this. I mean, why would he support anyone in this? It's between Emilio, Kade and me.

Maybe I can talk to Emilio about all of this? Who knows...

It's 2 am and I can't sleep. I've just been thinking to much.

I grab my phone and nachos before quietly walking to the door and tip-toe downstairs in a grey hoodie and black leggings. I make my way to the backyard and lay down on the couch. I look at the sky and see those very familiar stars...those stars that helped me through everything. I sit up a bit and open the bag. I scroll through my Instagram feed and then I hear a noise from the living room. I look up and see someone walking towards the backyard while looking down at his phone. He goes throgh his hair with his hands and then looks up. Our gaze's meet and he continues to walk.

"Hey", he says and pushes me a bit to the other side of the couch to make space for him to sit.

"Hey!", I whisper-shout and he just laughs.

I turn around and lay my head on the other side of the couch. I playfuly push his thighs with my feet and he laughs while mumbling a quite 'ow'.

"Why did you do that?", he asks and puts his hands in the air while shaking his head.

"You literally took my seat", I shrug my shoulders and look down at my phone. I grab a single nacho and dip it in the hot sauce. And then I remember...
"Hey, can I talk to you about something?" I look up at him.

"Yeah, sure", he turns to face me with a worried expression.

"So, um...what's happening between you and Kade?", I ask, pretending to not know the situation between them two.

"Uh, nothing...?", his response ended being a question.

"Listen, I...Ivan told me everything. I just wanted to like...let you know I know. So, yeah"

"Oh", he simply says, raising his eyebrows while looking down at his lap.

"Yeah"

"I wouldn't do a single thing to get you guys out of the Team 10. I know how much it means to you being here...I just don't understand why would Kade do such thing", I explain, putting my hands in the air.

I look back at Emilio, he's staring at the sky with a small smile on his face.

"What are you smiling about?", I ask as a couple little laughs exit my mouth.

"I don't actually know. I just like stars. When I was younger I used to sneak out around midnight and go to the beach to just sit and look at them. I think they're really one of the greatest things ever", he finished his sentence simply and looks back at me.

"I used to just go to my balcony and admire them, they got me through my toughest times", I say

"Like when?", Emilio asks

"Like, when my brother and f-father died...", I quetly sniffle and try to hold back my tears.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know", he scoots closer to me and wraps his arms around my body.

I hug him back and nuzzle my head in his neck. More tears started to fall down and eventually, the part of his hoodie got soaked with my tears.

"I-I'm sorry, I'm such a crybaby-"

"Sh...no, no, no. It's okay. I understand every single thing about it", he softly says, rubbin my back with his hands, "When did it happen?"

"A year ago", I sniff and pull back, looking at his ocean blue eyes.

"Oh so it's still has...", he trailes off.

"Yeah, it still has a huge effect on me", I finish his sentence and stare down at my lap.

"Don't worry, Kenz. The darkest sky has the brightest stars"

When he said that, it's like I couldn't focus on anythih else but him.

Only him.
