It was my first day working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. I was nervous because of the rumors circulating around town about the establishment. I needed the money for rent, so I couldn't refuse the job. I walked in expecting it to be a spooky abandoned building, but, to my surprise, there were some customers sitting around and eating.

I was greeted by a handsome guy who looked around my age. He smiled and reached out for a handshake. "Hello. My name is Mark. You're Y/N, right?"

"Yes sir, my name is Y/N." I shake his hand and he has a firmer grip than I expected.

"Just call me Mark... I don't really like being called sir. It makes me feel like I have to be a respectable member of society," he says as he laughs.

"Okay," I smiled and giggled more out of nervousness than anything else.

"Since this is your first day, I'm here to show you the ropes of being a guard. Next month you'll start the night shift which, um, is a bit more interesting." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked like he didn't want to talk about it.

"So, what are my responsibilities?"

"You make sure that the place doesn't get robbed, the kids don't mess with the animatronics, and that everyone is following the rules." He points just outside the office to the list of rules. I read them real quick and shake my head a bit at one of the rules.

"Seems simple enough for a security job, but I still don't understand why it would be more interesting at night. The animatronics would be the only ones here." He looked like he was trying to forget a horrific scene that was replaying in his head. I raised an eyebrow."Is there something you aren't telling me?"

"It's hard to explain. At least without showing you, but you will find out soon enough when it comes to the night shift next month." He looked uneasy, so I didn't want to press the issue.

-Time Skip-

After the first day, dealing with kids trying to grab Bonnie's guitar, a couple of kids trying to play hide and seek in Pirate Cove, and one of the employees trying to steal from the register, everything that I thought about the establishment didn't seem all that accurate... but when it came to the night shift, I still had no idea. I asked several other employees, and they all changed the subject. I wanted to know as much as I could before I actually had to do the night shift, but I was getting nowhere. While thinking over all of the responses, I was clocking out for the day and someone came up behind me and scared me half to death. I almost turned around and punched them, then I snapped to when I found out it was Mark.

"Damn it, Mark... You scared me half to death. Please don't do that again." I took a deep breath to try and calm myself down.

"Sorry Y/N. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just checking on you to see if you wanted to hang out later."

"Sorry, I got some plans with some friends. I could ask if you could tag along if you'd like."

"Sure. Sounds good to me." He smiled and clocked out as well since there wasn't much paperwork he had to do throughout the day.

-Time Skip to 2 days later-

I clocked in and sighed wondering if there was gonna be anything different happening today. I thought about a couple of nights prior. Mark got along great with everyone at my friends' party and was pretty cool to hang around. I wondered if he had a girlfriend, but my thoughts were interrupted by him walking up and smiling at me before clocking in.

"Hey Y/N. I had an awesome time hanging out with you and your friends the other night. Hopefully, we can do that again sometime."

"I don't see why not. My friends kept telling me that they wanted to get to know you more. You were pretty much the life of the party." I giggled a bit. "Now to get started with this Manic Monday, huh?"

"Actually you started Friday and those are usually the most hectic. Monday's are pretty chill here."

"Mental note. Well, let's get started."

-Time Skip to Lunch-

Nothing had happened with the exception of a kid trying to grab Chica's cupcake, but Mark was right there to stop her. I grabbed my lunch from the break room and sat in front of the security cameras checking it out and taking my bowl of fettuccine alfredo out of the microwave after heating it up. Mark was there a few minutes later making sure that everything was alright.

"Yeah, I'm good. Just catching a quick lunch, then back to the grindstone. That and I needed to see how these cameras worked." I pointed to the screen as I flipped between each of the cameras and took another bite of my pasta.

"I swear. Why haven't they fixed the kitchen camera? It's been down for about 2 months now. I swear this place is falling apart."

"How long have you been working here?" I asked curious to find out more about Mark since he didn't really talk about work when he was at the party. I found him intriguing and wanted to get to know him a bit more.

"Been working here for about 6 months now. Most people don't last that long... maybe a couple of weeks max, but that's mainly the night shift. Day shift is a hell of a lot easier in comparison. You'll see eventually." I tilted my head a bit slurping up a noodle that didn't want to stay on the fork. I quickly chewed so I could respond, but unfortunately on the camera, there was a kid trying to sneak into Pirate Cove, so Mark said, "Damn... Not again..." and ran out of the room. I raised an eyebrow once again and finished up while watching the cameras for any other misdeeds.

-Time Skip to the end of the shift on Friday-

"It's been an interesting week, Mark," I say as he hands me my paycheck. "I thought that I'd see more action, to be honest. I can't understand the high turnover rate here."

Mark looked uncomfortable at my comment. He knew something and he was unwilling to tell me. I could tell that from day one, but what that something was I had no clue as to what it could be. I decided to let it slide for the moment.
