-Time Skip to Monday-
I woke up before my alarm and that wasn't a good thing... Usually when that happens, something was going to be messing with me. Hoping that wouldn't be the case, I got ready for work.
-Time Skip to arriving at the front door of Freddy's-
Mark got out of his car and greeted me. "Hey, you ready for your first night shift?"
"I'm a bit nervous, but I don't know why yet. Something's been bugging me since I woke up."
Mark looked a bit unnerved himself, but like he was trying to hide it from me. "You have E.S.P. don't you?"
"Always have... Why do you ask?"
He rubs his neck and says, "It will be going crazy tonight... I'm surprised that you haven't sensed anything yet to be honest."
"Well I have noticed a few spirits about during the day, but I just thought that it's cause they loved this place so much to let it go... but there's one spot that always creeps me out more than I can explain and I don't know why."
"You'll find out by the end of the week... I can promise you that." Mark opened the restaurant and made sure I was set up in the office. "If you need anything, give me a call. I can't stay with you unfortunately."
"Why not?" I gave him my best puppy dog eyes and a slight pout.
"It's safer that way. Trust me. You'll understand later." He looked at his watch. "Crap. Got to go now. See you tomorrow. Be careful." He waved quickly and ran for the door, locking it behind him.
Night 1
I sighed and started playing the training tape that Mark set up for me.
"Hello? Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in your first night. Um... I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now as a matter of fact. So I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about, uh, you'll do fine. So let's just focus on getting through your first week, ok? Uh, let's see... first there's the introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know..."
I look at the cameras real quick, figuring it's gonna be your basic 'You represent Fazbear Entertainment. Be on your best behavior' type of thing that you hear from every company ever. Nothing unusual so far... so I can't really say a thing.
"Um, 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a magical place for kids and grown-up's alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person."
'Same as the last tape I listened to so far...' I thought to myself.
"Upon discovering that damage or death have occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced."
My eyes grew wide about as big as my fists at this point. 'Why destroy any evidence with bleach... and replace the carpets?' This thought disturbed me. 'What exactly are they trying to hide by that policy?'
"Blah, blah, blah... Now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about."
'Nothing to worry about my ass,' I thought. 'What the fuck goes on at night?' My heart rate started to go up a bit. I looked back at the cameras and noticed Bonnie, Chica, and Freddy all staring straight at the camera. I quickly flipped the camera down and shook my head.
"Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for 20 years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too."
'I can't blame them either to be honest,' I thought. Then it hit me, what Mark had said at the bar. "There's a huge risk..." 'Was he trying to tell me the animatronics have killed before? Was that the reason why he was so nervous about me working the night shift?'
"So remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay. So just be aware, the characters do tend to wonder a bit."
I looked at the camera again once again and Bonnie was gone. "Oh.... Shit..."
"Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night, uh, something about their servos locking up if they got turned off for too long? Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day, but then there was the Bite of '87."
"The what?..." I said to myself out loud. I flip the camera down and focus on the call for a moment.
"Yeah. I-it's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?"
I face palmed just thinking about it. That's why no one wanted to talk about it... The rumors were partially true.
"Uh, now concerning your safety. The only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person."
"What?!?" I exclaimed.
"They'll pro-They'll most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without it's costume on. Now, since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to... forcefully stuff you into a Freddy Fazbear suit."
"God damn it." I looked at the cameras again to see where Bonnie was and that's when I noticed Chica was gone. I checked the 'blind spots' to the office before going beck to the cameras.
"Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad, if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices. Especially around the facial area. So you can imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort..."
"No shit..." I said sarcastically.
"...and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask. Heh... Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras and remember to close those doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night."
My jaw dropped when he mentioned the eyes and teeth. I shook my head to partially snap myself back to reality. My hands were shaking so I took several deep breaths to try and steady myself. I took a sip of my soda and checked the cameras again. Bonnie had moved back to the dining area and Chica had moved to the hallway in front of the bathrooms. I grabbed my phone and called Mark as the clock struck 1 am. "Please be up... please be up, please be up..."
"Hello?" Mark picked up the phone.
"Hey... I got through the first tape," I said as I take a quick glance at the cameras and quickly turned them off again. "You should have told me."
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't. I wish I could have." His voice was shaky like he was extremely nervous.
"I'll get through this. I promise you that." I wished deep down that he was there with me. That I could hold his hand to reassure him and... myself. Unfortunately he wasn't there. I had to face these animatronics on my own. I flipped through the security cameras once again spotting Bonnie in the hallway. Then I heard Chica going through the kitchen knocking the pots and pans around. I heard Mark sigh on the phone.
"I've been told that before. Please be careful. Listen to everything and take note of their patterns. By the way you might want to check your blind spots."
I did what he said and Bonnie was at the door. I quickly closed the door he was at. "I'm gonna let you go for now. I'll see you after my shift Mark... and thank you."
"Be safe." I heard the click on the other end. I gulped hard and checked the door to make sure that Bonnie was gone. I opened the door and when the coast was clear, I did exactly what he told me and took note of their patterns. I made sure to check my blind spots whenever I couldn't find them in their usual stomping grounds. The rest of the night was thankfully uneventful.
