Chae Hyungwon
Kihyun was being irrationally gentleman-like again. I rolled my eyes when he collapsed back in the driver's seat, sighing. "Why does she have to like him so much?"
I patted his shoulder, because that's what I was supposed to do. Console him, make him feel better . . . because he was the one who payed for my coffee and gave me rides. Of course, he was also my best friend, but I was getting pretty sick of acting like this whenever he felt like a girl rejected him.
Then, he also had to take me home. I was feeling sticky in my smoothie store work uniform, and I wanted to go home to take a shower. I also had a date with some guy my other friend set me up with, and I was hoping it would turn out okay, because I missed having someone to hold and get comfortable with. Then again, when she said it was someone I already knew, Jackson Wang, I decided that maybe we wouldn't be all that compatible. Jackson and I weren't deathly enemies, but we knew each other. We were friendzoned, and perfectly fine with that. He doesn't know I'm his date, though, so I can't cancel on him. He doesn't even know it's me, what if he thinks his date is a jerk and tells me about it, no matter how unlikely? That'd be awkward.
Anyway, Kihyun was sitting in the car, right after saying goodbye to Summer. I watched as the kid who obviously liked her walk her to his car, and they drove off. Kihyun didn't seem to like her all that much, but I think he felt defeated that she chose Jooheon over himself.
"Hey. You can take that discount card I get every month," I said and nudged Kihyun, referring to my opportunities to get smoothies 20% off. He sighed again.
I looked out the window, preparing, because I knew he was going to explode like a volcano. I watched the people walking out of the school building. I was surprised at all the attractive kids walking out, but then I noticed this one guy.
He was listening to music on his headphones, and nodding his head. There was another guy, who looked a little bit older, walking out of the white doors. He did that bro dude handshake with him, and then this bouncy looking littler guy came outside, and wrapped himself around the oldest guy's arm.
Then, the first guy was left alone. He stared at the couple walking off, and I searched him. His eyes scanned the parking lot, and they landed on me. He looked like a deer in the headlights for a second, and I must have looked the same.
He smiled goofily at me, and I blushed, before looking around at Kihyun.
". . . But I was just thinking why I can't get a girl to like me," he finished. "It's so crazy! I'm good looking, but maybe not as god looking as you . . ."
I couldn't even bring myself to care, because I heard a tap on my window. I jumped, as did Kihyun, and looked out of my window. I couldn't believe myself when the boy from there appeared.
"H-hi," I stuttered, staring at him. He had such a beautiful smile, I almost wanted to squeal.
"Hey. I saw you from my school over there. And i thought you were very cute," he said. I was amazed he had the guts to approach someone he didn't know and just start flirting.
I laughed nervously, and realized my stupid appearance. A cute boy was finally going up to me, and he was talking to me like I was someone he really liked. I tried not to think about the strawberry squisher (awful name, I know) covering my pants and the newspaper i was sitting on through my own decision to not soil Kihyun's seat and hear his nagging, and just focused on being as cute as possible as to not lose this chance.
"Well, I mean, you're pretty cute, too," I wanted to say, but I was too blushy and shy.
"What's your name?"
"He's Hyungwon," Kihyun piped in, and I was kind of glad he was taking his role as wingman pretty well. But at the same time, I felt like a loser who could barely speak to someone who was trying to make the first move.
"Ah," the boy said. Except he didn't seem like a boy. He was a man.
"Y-yeah," I said. "My name's Hyungwon. I don't go here . . . "
He smiled. "I'm Hoseok. I do go here."

I was mentally cringing at how awkward I was even three days after I first met Hoseok. I was acting like such a loser, he probably lost all interest in me he ever had.
I almost fell onto my knees and hid behind the counter when the same guy, Hoseok, walked through the door on his phone. He smiled for a second, and stood in one spot inside the door to reply to what I assumed was a text he just got. Then he looked up, and my breath hitched.
I stared at him, open-mouthed, as he walked over, a smile still on his face.
"Hey!"
I opened my mouth to talk, but I was still a stuttering mess. He was smiling, but it grew wider.
"You're adorable," he grinned. "I knew you'd be working here at this time."
"How did you know?" I asked him, playing with my hands nervously.
"I came two days ago because I saw your uniform when you were in the car, and asked around. I found out your working hours and decided to meet you because I wanted to talk to you," Hoseok said.
"O-oh," I chuckled, blushing because he was smiling at me.
"Can I have your number?" he asked me, drawing little circles into the counter top with his finger.
"Yeah! Yeah, of course!" I grinned, but realized how eager I was acting, and cleared my throat. "I mean, yeah. Sure."
He laughed, and tapped my hand which was on the counter top a couple of times absent-mindedly, before handing me his phone. I couldn't stop smiling as I punched in my number.
"I kinda have to go now, because my friend invited me over to help plan his pool party to start the break. I'll tell you when it is and you can come with me. I promise I'll text you," he said with a wink, and then left. I stared after him, feeling like he was my first crush.
