The little imp is about to have sex. Hallelujah -->

Blaine's POV

"Anders, I don't understand," I begin weakly as we're buckling up in Anders' car, "I have so many questions."

"Ask away."

"What happened to him? How did he become like.... that in the first place?" My mind wanders back to Alec's feral state, where he almost doesn't even recognise his own best friend. Anders and I even had to leave because he almost ripped Anders' head off.

"I told you. His mate left him around three years ago. Adam went to school, just as usual, but he didn't come back. Alec started searching for him on the same day, but he just disappeared. He threw aways his phone so that we couldn't track him through GPS, and Alec couldn't even smell his scent," Anders stares into the distance as he explains, "He was angry, but he still could control his temper at first. But then days turned into months, and months turned into years. As days passed by, Alec became more restless. And then one day, he almost killed another were in anger. We knew, then, that he had become a danger to the society and we needed to keep him away. He deteriorated even more since then until he finally reached his current state."

I don't know what to say. My throat becomes dry and constricted, but after taking a deep breath, I finally stammer out my next question. "B-but, do you know why Adam ran away in the first place?"

Anders stares at me intently before he answers, "You see, Alec's character and temperament are similar with Ethan's. From humans' perspective, he seems overbearing and controlling. The thing is, Alec is a very well-known figure in weres' law enforcement sector. He made lot of enemies, thanks to his job. One day, he received a threat that might endanger Adam. Since then, he became even more obsessive and controlling, making Adam completely uncomfortable until he finally decided to run away."

"But why didn't Alec tell Adam about the threat? Maybe he would have been more understanding."

"He did tell him, but Adam was adamant that he could protect himself."

"Well then maybe he could. You weres always underestimate our capabilities. We're not some damsels in distress that always need your protection, you know." I grumble petulantly.

"Alec's younger brother died two months before he met Adam. He had received the same threat before his brother died," Anders answers tersely, "His brother was a were, and he still couldn't protect himself against the guy who threatened Alec. Imagine how Alec reacted when Adam, a teen human that barely weighs 130 pounds, said that he could protect himself."

"But then maybe it's better for Adam to disappear. It would be safer for him, right? Since he's going to be away from Alec and the guy who threatened him."

"Oh no, sweetheart. After Adam disappeared, Alec became obsessed with the threat. He wanted to avenge his brother's death and his mate's disappearance. We kept him in a house arrest, but we didn't know that he secretly investigated the threat. He finally managed to find the guy who had threatened him and he sneaked off his house to hunt this guy. When we found him, the sight was not pretty at all, love," Anders lets out a small shudder at the recollection, "I'm a were, and I'm used to violence. But what I saw.... It was on a whole different level. At that moment, Ethan and I realised that we might need to put him down in the future."

"W-why do you tell me all of this, Anders?" I whisper weakly, my mind becomes so exhausted with all of the new information that I get.

"You kept asking me to stop Ethan from 'harassing' Riley. You have to understand, he witnessed all of the things that happened to Alec. We, weres, have been taught since we were young about the importance of our mates in our lives. Our mates are our anchors. Weres are filled with aggression and violence, and our mates are the only thing that can keep us from turning into a complete monster. We've been taught that, but we never saw the real example of that before Alec. Riley reminds Ethan so much of Adam, his independence, his stubbornness, his ferocity, they both are so similar. Can you understand now why he is so paranoid and controlling? I may have to put down one of my best friends, Blaine. If you ask me to keep Ethan away from Riley, you might as well ask me to put down another best friend of mine."
