"ladies don't start fights but they can finish them"Scarlett and Paul only had a few moments to themselves until the wolves outside the door got too antsy and could no longer wait, they needed to see that she was okay. They bursted through the door nearly knocking the screws out of the wall as they rushed in hurriedly.
"Scarlett!" A few voices exclaimed as Paul was knocked out of the way, Seth hugging on to her body tightly before he heard a small sniffle he backed up.
"Are you okay? Did I hurt you?" His voice was full of worry and concern. Hurting her was the last thing he ever wanted to do, he didn't ever want to hurt anyone but Scarlett least of all, "I thought you were going to die," his lip started to tremble as the tears had just earlier reversed came back.
Scarlett smiled fondly at the boy wiping the tears away as she gently brushed his thick mop of hair away from his face, "You didn't hurt me, I'm okay, I'll be okay," she quickly rephrased knowing that in her current state that she was not completely okay. She was mourning, everyone could see it in her eyes that looked darker, duller. They had seen her flash of memories of her and Keke, they knew who she had lost and their hearts went out for her, especially Leah and Seth who vowed to be there for her since it was her who was there for them after their father had passed. "And I'm not dying any time soon I can promise you that Sethy, you're all stuck with me for a while longer," her gave her a watery chuckle reaching up to hold the hand that held his face.
"I'm glad you're okay kid," Sam said gruffly breaking the maternal love that Scarlett held for Seth, she looked at the man who was essentially her right hand.
"Thanks Sam," she murmured softly, her throat still a bit sore, and her body felt as if she had been hit by a truck but none of the pain compared to the desolation she felt in her heart at the loss. Keke though they had been separated for quite some time would always hold a fond spot in Scarletts heart. She would have been the first person that she ever loved had she stayed longer, and though Scalett loved Paul with ever fiber of her being her mind couldn't stop asking 'what if?'.
She knew it was for the best that their relationship didn't continue, because no matter how much Scarlett could have loved Keke sooner or later she would have met Paul and everything would have changed from there. She would have broken Kekes heart, and that hurt more than anything, she figured that it was better that Keke broke hers when she left. It was better that way, she would have preferred receiving the pain over giving it any day.
And even though it felt as if someone had ripped at home in the middle of her chest, and her head was pounding with every turn of the ceiling fan, and her eyes strained to look at her pack through her tears, she found herself feeling just the smallest bit better and that was something. With the pack by her side she felt stronger, more powerful than she would ever feel if she stood alone.
