Scarlett's heart was aching in agonizing pain as she watched Jake wallow in his heart break. She felt awful for him, the look of sheer brokenness that shone straight through his face, was visible to everyone who looked at him. She wished she could just take his pain away, convince him that his imprint was somewhere out there, that he would have another chance at love. But she knew she wouldn't be able to tell him any of that, he wouldn't believe it. Bella was his one and only, and while he fawned after her she did something worse, she led him on, allowed him to have that hope and belief that there was a chance--that he wasn't foolish for having those emotions.

But there was nothing that Scarlett could do, or say to make him feel better all she could do was be there for him, hold him in his arms and remind him that he wasn't alone, that she would always be there for him. Jake was the brother that she never had, and despite their differences and arguments, she would always stand for him, always.

Day by day it seemed to get better, easier for him as Bella and Edward were gone, away on their honeymoon. The pack tried to keep him busy with tasks and patrols so he wouldn't wallow anymore, they were all doing their best to help Jake but the only one that could help him was himself.

Scarlett had brought him down to her secret spot, a ton of snacks and drinks like they usually did before everything, "This is nice," Jake muttered, his face pensive as he looked out to the water.

"It is," Scarlett nodded, taking a sip of the soda she had brought down for them. It was a decent day, it wasn't sunny but it wasn't raining either, and in La Push that was a great day. "I like to come here sometimes, middle of the night and just sit, get away from it all. The expectations, the stress, the drama," Scarlett told Jake not looking at him once she felt his eyes on her face.

"You do?" He asked, his voice stunned into realization. He had realized how the weight on Scarlett's shoulder had affected her, he doubted anyone did really. She always put on a strong face, never letting anyone in to see what was messing with her. He supposed that everyone needed a break some time.

"Yeah, Paul knows about it, I tell him and he always tries to come with me, but its nice to be alone sometimes," Scarlett explained to the boy, she finally looked over her eyes reaching his puppy-eyed sad ones, "You're not going to be alone forever Jake,"

"Yeah, well sometimes it feels like I will be," He shook his head and Scarlett held her tongue. She wanted to throttle the boy, he was 17 for crying out loud he should be living his life, hooking up with other girls and going on dates and not pining after one that was probably mid transition into a vampire as they spoke. She wished he would just open up his eyes to see because he would never find his imprint if he was dead set on Bella.

Bella had made her choice, she had moved on and was living her new life, Jake just needed to do the same and Scarlett would be there step by step to help him do so if needed.

A few days later the sun finally came out, and with the lack of vampires in the neighborhood, the pack and all of the imprints decided to have a beach day. A group was playing soccer, including Scarlett who just so happened to be on the opposite team of Paul. Scarlett's feet caught the ball, kicking it through the sand heading to the goal when a pair of arms caught her around her waist,

"Paul!" She screeched as he threw her over her shoulder, taking the ball with his own feet and sending it back down to his own team's goal, she pounded on his back, "Let me down, you big oaf!" The two laughed as Paul finally set her down back on the sand, her laughter spilling when she heard Jake say that he was going to kill Edward before Sam shut his plan down, Jakes' eyes flashed over to Scarlett who looked away from his glaring eyes.

Her and Sam had held a meeting a few nights previous where they discussed the terms of the treaty, it was if the Cullens killed or turned a human that the treaty would then be void. However, they figured since Bella was choosing this, and it was her husband that there was no reason to start another war over, given they maintained her and controlled her newborn tendencies. Scarlett knew Jake would be less than pleased with the decision made between the Alphas but what other choice did they have, neither one of them wanted to start another war. They were at peace, everything was good why would they ruin that.

Seeing her face drop Paul lunged forward and picked her up again, holding her in his arms like she was a bride going through the threshold, carrying over to the others before dropping down in the sand, her body completely sprawled over his.

"Here have this," He shoved some fruit into her hands and she took it happily as the boys all joked about the game, Kim and Emily chatting about some new recipe they had both loved since they had now taken over the task of pack chefs. It had previously been just Emily, but since school was out for the summer Kim now had more time to help with the pack. Paul leaned down catching his lips with Scarlett, murmuring softly in her ears, "I love you," and there it was, the words that she would never tire from.

"Love you," She responded before her eyes met Leah's whose sat with the other boys, the single and imprints separated, she gave her a small smile and Leah returned it weakly.

"Hey Scarlett, what about you, do you like to cook?" Kim asked her eyes wide and innocent reminding Scarlett of Bambi, Jared let out a loud cackling laugh as he wrapped his arm around his imprint.

"Yeah right, Scarlett burns water," He pointed out making the group laugh since they all knew how true that statement was. Scarlett rolled her eyes as Pauls hold on her tightened,

"Yes, and while she lacks in cooking skills, she certainly makes up for it in other departments," He told the group suggestively, they all watched as Kims face turned a bright red while Sam shook his own, Jared and Paul catcalling ridiculously. Scarlett huffed,

"Yeah, and you won't get them tonight," She stood up from the sand, wiping herself off before walking back to her car to grab her bag, Paul stood up abruptly behind her.

"Whoa! Babe, come on I was just joking!" Scarlett remained silent, her face hidden from him allowing her to smirk, "Babe! Wait! Are you serious?" he called, leaving a group of boisterously laughing pack members all taking the joke out at Pauls expense. She rolled her eyes as she got to her car, no way in hell was she going to withhold sex from Paul, that wasn't just a punishment for him, that was one for her too. She reached into her car pulling out her bag looking for a change of shorts as her jeans had gotten wet in the water and were starting to rub uncomfortably on her.

As she pulled out a pair of cotton shorts her cell phone in the passenger seat started to ring, her eyebrows furrowed as she grabbed onto it. Seeing the familiar caller ID on the phone she hesitantly answered it,

"Hello?" She was confused as to why she was even calling her to begin with.

There was a soft sigh before she spoke, "Scarlett, I need your help," Bella's voice was dead serious making all the blood from Scarlett's face rush out. Something was wrong, something was really wrong.

honestly im like 50/50 right now because i dont want her away from paul, then again i dont want her away from leah and seth ?? let me know what you guys think scarlett will do?
