"Thank you for the tea, Mrs. Lester," I say as the drink is transferred from Phil's mum's hands to mine. I take a sip of it and Mrs. Lester sits in the armchair diagonal to the love seat Phil and I are seated on. "So," she clicks, "You and my son are dating?"

"Yes, M'am."

"Phil, what happened to Louise?" Phil fidgeted next to me, trying to come up with an excuse. "Um, some things happened that she wasn't happy about. So she broke up with me."

"Well, for dating her for almost all of university and half of high school, you seemed to get over her quickly."

"Yeah, I realised that she and I were more based on intimacy rather than romance."

"Mm," she says, taking a drink of her own tea. "You know, Dan, even though Phil identifies as Pansexual, he's never had anything other than a girlfriend before."

"Mum, please don't embarrass me, I just got him to think I was cool." his chest rises and falls as he laughs.

"Aw, come on, Phil, I always thought you were cool. That is, till you showed me you were a big ol' softie on the inside." I laugh and move closer to him.

"So Dan," Phil's mum says, "If you don't mind me asking, how do you identify?"

There's a quick pause before I start talking. "Well, up until I met Phil, I never really knew what I was. I mean, this is a rarity for me to be seen like this," I run my hands along the shirt, "I didn't have any extra clothes to wear because I thought I'd be bringing some from my Father's house. People always thought I was queer but I was never sure, honestly. Then I met Phil, and I questioned myself more than ever. I know I'm not straight, as I'm dating a boy, but I've been discovering myself lately. And I believe I think that I'm homoromantic demisexual." Phil's mum claps and nods happily. I look at her, puzzled. I ask her if she knows what that means.

"Of course! It means you like guys romantically but won't have sex until a strong relationship is established. I read a book about being the mother to a gay child after Phil came out to me." I look at Phil, back to his mum, and to Phil again. He laughs, but I can tell it's forced. "She's very good at absorbing knowledge that interests her."

"Okay, well, I have to get food for tonight's supper, so I need to go to the Market. Thank you for coming, Dan, and I'll see you later!" And with that, there was the noise of a door slamming and Phil took hold of my gaze and my hand.

"Don't believe a word she says," he sneers, fixing his hair. "Why?" I ask, "She seems very nice and very sober."

"She's a good actor."

"Actress," I correct, to which Phil replies with a quick whatever. "She's not going to the shop, she's going to the bar to drink away her problems. The only reason she remembers the sexualities is because I would quiz her on it, she didn't read a damn book about it in her life. If you saw her when you weren't company... well, let's just say you wouldn't want to come back."

I nod and sigh. It sounds like we both have parent issues. We sit in silence for a few seconds before an idea pops into my mind. I tell Phil about it, and he gradually becomes excited. I knew he'd like it. We both take out our phones and tweet to send us questions. Within minutes, we have hundreds combined.

We run into Phil's room and turn on his camera.

I check the first comment on Phil's phone and it just so happens to be-
