Aubrey scurried through the door of her classroom as the bell rang. Biting her lip in anticipation, hoping to see Ratchet in the alley.
"Aubrey! Hey, want me to walk you home?" Jack called, scooting through a horde of kids to reach her.
"My dad called your mom and asked you to make sure I got home on time, didn't he?" Aubrey asked dryly.
"... Maybe." Jack frowned. "You ok? You've been.. Different lately."
It had been 3 days after Aubrey had met the autobots. If she had been different, she had been smiling a lot more. Working harder to finish faster. More cheery than usual.
"Dude, sorry I've been more focused." Aubrey made dramatic hand motions to further prove her point. Jack did his signature eye roll followed by a turn of his head to swing his hair. Aubrey smiled, unable to hold back a laugh. If only he knew.
Jack wasn't the kind of kid who'd like all this, though. He wasn't into aliens or robots or anything like that. Nope. Jack was just like anyone living in Jasper. Quiet. Normal. And bored.
"What's so funny?" Jack glared.
"I don't know... Just, you I guess."
"Gee, thanks."
"No-- not like that. Just.. I don't know really. I'm just happy I guess, and with you doing all your little personality quirks, I can't help but laugh." Aubrey shrugged, but Jack had long lost attention. He was staring at the red-head down the hall.
"Oh for love of... Earth to Jack! Enough of goggling at that chic and go talk to her! Though, I don't know what you see in a girl like her.." Aubrey grumbled.
"What do you mean?? Sierra's smart, nice, pretty..."
"Only cares about how cool her boyfriend is, and the second someone cooler pops up she dumps him?" Aubrey huffed.
"She isn't like that! You wouldn't understand.." Jack sighed.
"You're right, I wouldn't." Aubrey scoffed, shrugging her shoulders. Jack pushed open the door leading outside.
"Enough about that," Jack blinked, looking at the red car parked in front of the school. "Who's car is that?!" He gaped. Aubrey blushed. He couldn't know that truth that the car was conscious and could turn into a robot that could probably destroy this whole town on his own, though CliffJumper would never do that.
"Uhh... That's my dad's friend's car.. He's picking me up from school.." Aubrey shrugged.
"I thought you walked..?" Jack tilted his head.
"Not anymore." Aubrey waved goodbye, rushing away and leaving Jack in the dust. She opened up the glossy red door, getting a shiver up her spine. This was a nice car. A really nice car. Nothing her dad could afford. Sliding into the leather seat, she put her clarinet case and backpack in the back seat.
"What are those?" Cliff asked.
"You mean my back pack? You know, it carries school stuff? Not high tech."
"What about the smaller... Box?"
"That's my clarinet case, smart guy." Aubrey teased.
"Sorry, I don't know you're human stuff very well. Hell, I don't know Cybertronian tech that well either." Though, CliffJumper had quickly taken to human vulgar, which he felt comfortable saying in front of Aubrey.
"Well, can you hurry out of here? People are gonna get suspicious with me in a car like this.. They no I could never afford something like this." Aubrey sighed.
