There was a very special and important planet in the galaxy. Its inhabitants lived in harmony, under the belief that every being in existence had a significant other somewhere out there. Touched by this paradigm, many outsiders visited the planet to learn more about its ways, seeking the answers to the troubles that deeply ailed their hearts. The locals were always more than happy and willing to receive visitors, take them in and teach them about companionship and soul affinity, almost always finding a suitable partner for the newcomers among their people.
Dr. Shiroyami served as the caretaker of this world, along with her trusty friend Kiari the wispy pixie. Never one to turn away from a being in need, she always helped those who came to her planet, no matter who or what they were, whether they were good or evil. As she offered her aid, she did so like one of her people, and not as their leader; she reached more hearts and was more effective by establishing a connection with others on the same level. Overall, she cared about life and love over other motivations, and lived by those ideals.
One day, she was visited by an old acquaintance that went by the name of Liberty; a genderless scoundrel and fugitive to the law, yet lovable, fun and friendly in his own right. He arrived in a unique spacecraft that ran on forbidden, stolen technology, bringing with him a group of six strange lifeforms Tsukiko had never seen before, who spoke in a tongue unknown to everyone. The doctor knew nothing of these new creatures' biologies, but accepted Lib's request to have an external translator implanted on the head of one of the females of the group so the girl could understand those around her and, in turn, they could comprehend her speech. Such a delicate operation on an undocumented species was very risky, but Tsu was confident in her abilities and had encountered weirder beings before. She would not back down from this challenge if it meant bringing everyone closer to each other. After all, a fluid communication is vital to the bonding of different species.
"Oh, by the way, I can understand them just fine, thanks to the wonderful tinkering job the late Dr. Thorn did on my own chip." Lib pointed out, grinning smugly. "They say their species are known as 'humans'. Quite an odd name, huh?"
However, something went drastically wrong. The law enforcers that were pursuing the fugitive caught up to him in the middle of the operation, seeking him not only for his extensive criminal record but also for taking this unknown creature as a hostage. As Liberty fended the cops off, Tsukiko sped up the operation, barely patching the girl up with the translator. The runaway managed to escape with his prized ship and the foreign being, getting help from his doctor friend, but the others weren't so lucky. While the remaining five humans were killed in the gunfight, along with several other natives, Tsu was captured and brought before none other than the leader of the upholders of law himself. The mysterious man surrounded by a thousand legends, the person that was rumored to be beyond all notions of time, space, age, deterioration, laws of physics... The ultimate being above all others.
His name was Abe Linx. Leader of the Basts.
"Tsukiko Shiroyami." He said, in his unsettling, otherworldly deep voice. "By assisting the most wanted criminal in our sector, Liberty Jones, you have become an accomplice of his unforgivable crimes. Due to your own actions, you have been charged with detainment in the highest security prison we, the Basts, can offer, until further notice. Do you have anything to say for yourself before we proceed with your punishment? If you can grace us with clues to his next move, you may be spared."
His mere presence was soul-crushing. Breathing the same air he breathed... if he even needed to breathe at all... was intoxicating. Tsu could feel the overwhelming power of his immortal spirit bearing down on her tiny body through his unrelenting gaze; coupled with the grief she felt from the fall of all those innocents, she felt like she couldn't take it a second longer. Being near him... it felt like dying.
