So, what was she going to do now? Tsukiko pondered the matter as she hovered over the Riversphere, gazing upon its dazzling magnificence as it continued to flow gently and steadily across the multiverse, shining brightly on her ethereal body, whose colors had receded back into the speck in her chest. She was now free from a mission that had been there since the awakening of her spiritual conscience, which meant she had to find a new directive to replace the only one she had ever known. Painful as it may have been, there was no way she could go back and keep watching over Tales; the beings she had grown to love so dearly during her whole existence. No matter how badly she wanted to still be a part of that circle, returning would mean she would have to come into contact with Minori again, and the two were apparently unable to establish an agreement on what the best thing was for the soul bound children. Besides, it was true that they weren't Tsukiko'sresponsibility, despite how much she loved them. As long as she wasn't a part of Minori's spirit, they weren't actually dependent on her to actually live. And since she wasn't going to fuse with the dimension, well... Perhaps their fates were truly meant to be apart. It didn't mean she couldn't go and take care of other beings, though. That could be an alternative.

Death was also an option, Tsu considered. She wasn't fully formed as an immortal spirit yet, even though she was almost there, so she still had to return to the Riversphere eventually. But what if she kept resisting the stream's pull and never went back? She could simply do nothing and wait for whatever catastrophic event Kitsune was preparing them for to come and end her existence. Yes... Tsukiko felt like she couldn't kill herself, but waiting out for the inevitable result seemed acceptable enough. It would be lethargic, but it would do.

The lone spirit stayed put for a moment, thinking, contemplating the marvelous cosmic phenomenon before her sparkling eyes. The sight of such a tranquil flow was soothing. It felt like it was washing away all her troubles just by being looked at, even though Tsu knew that was not really the case. Nonetheless, she felt more at ease just by watching all those soul parts move together as one, free from all care, from all pain, from all the problems caused by static, unwieldly immortals that were unable to evolve any further...

"Wow, you look pretty static yourself, just floating there."

The suddenness of the voice startled Tsukiko, who turned around in a flash. It was a familiar sound, but she hadn't sensed anyone approach her. Who...?

Joy replaced surprise when she realized who it was. She would have recognized that smug grin anywhere, anytime, in any of her lives.

"Long time no see, Tsu." Kiari stated.

"Indeed. Well..." The former Tale Caster stopped to think for a second, then finished her reply. "Technically speaking, this is the first time we've actually seen each other."

"Ah, yeah." The darker spirit shrugged, grinning even wider. "Feels cool, huh? We're standing on grounds more equal than ever before. Just you and me in our purest, original forms. Have we never actually met as mere unbound souls?"

"Perhaps before we developed a memory." The lighter spirit suggested.

"Eh, I don't think it counts if we don't remember." Kiari chuckled, a gesture that Tsu returned.

It did feel good to just be like this; together with the only other being that truly understood her, that had been there since the beginning. Seeing each other for the first time ever as who they really were, being more equal than in any other possible form, was also quite fulfilling.

"By the way, I witnessed your little discussion with Minori." The former fairy Tale remarked. "It was really something."

"Oh... You saw that?" Tsu asked nervously.
