I don't go to bed until I start to see the sun come up and even then, I don't move from the chair. By the time Mr. and Mrs. Matthews get up I've only been sleeping a little over an hour. I hear them come out into the living room and kitchen, they keep their voices low, Alex and Breyana still sleeping.

"See, she's not even sleeping on the bed anymore," I faintly hear Mrs. Matthews saying, her voice just a whisper.

"Relax Ema, Y/N isn't exactly the type that's down for cuddling every night and you and I both know Alex is. She probably got tired of being suffocated," Mr. Matthews replies just as quietly.

"I still think there's something going on with her. Ever since her meeting she's been avoiding being left alone with anyone, especially me. I just want to know that she's okay, there's just something off," Mrs. Matthews says and Mr. Matthews is quick to change the conversation.

Since I'm facing away from them I open my eyes and frown, guilt hitting me like a freight train. I had been avoiding her, but I didn't know she noticed and with what I'm going to do today it's going to set her even more on edge.

Gradually the others start to stir as well and once I hear Alex move around I pretend to wake up, a whole whopping three hours of pretend sleep. Alex and Mrs. Matthews are going over their plans for the last full day in Toronto when Auston wakes out, already dressed for the day to head to practice. He only got four hours of sleep and it shows, there's dark circles under his eyes and he looks a bit crankier than usual.

"Did you not sleep well, Auston?" Mrs. Matthews asks, her thought process the same as mine.

"Not really," he grumbles, taking a bit of offense to his mother's words and the fact that she's trying to fix his hair.

I giggle into my cereal and his eyes flash to me, amusement flashing across his face for a split second. Alex catches the interaction and from the corner of my eye I can see her light up like a Christmas tree and nudge Breyana. I ignore the both of them and focus on my cereal.

"So, last day of shopping?" Mrs. Matthew asks Alex and Breyana and I can hear Mr. Matthews groan quietly from across the table. I grin at him and give him a sympathetic smile.

"I'm shopped out too," I tell him. "I think I might just go for a walk around the university. If you guys don't mind," I glance at Mrs. Matthews and she has a frown on her face.

"We could go with you," she starts but Mr. Matthews cuts her off.

"I'll go with her, no need to treat her like a child, Ema," he says and I have never been more grateful.

Mrs. Matthews purses her lips and nods, saying nothing more on the matter. After Auston disappears off to practice, but not before pretending he left his watch in the bathroom and sneaking a kiss from me as I put on deodorant, Mrs. Matthews manages to corner me in the kitchen.

"Just going to explore the campus, Y/N?" She asks, pretending to be interested in a spec on the counter.

"Yup, clear my head a bit ya know? It's been a busy few days," I say as cheerfully as I can, trying to figure out how to maneuver around her to escape.

"Oh yes of course," she says quickly and I soften a little.

"Ema, I promise I'm okay, alright? I just want a little time to myself, that's it," I reassure her, touching her arm gently.

This seems to loosen her up a bit and she offers to do my hair again. I let her and sit myself on the floor in front of the recliner. Mrs. Matthews makes quick work of doing the same braids that she did on my first day here. I can't believe how long ago that already feels, and tomorrow I head home, five hours away from Auston. So much as happened in these last few days and there is so much more yet to happen.
