She reached an arm up to her forehead to wipe away the sweat which had started to bead there and caught a glimpse of her now clean forearm.

“Guess I was right.” Lani said to herself out loud.

Walking back into her kitchen, she made herself a cup of tea, sipping the hot liquid before relocating herself to the lounge room. Slouching into her worn out leather couch, she sighed again, letting the soft leather comfort her. She had had that couch forever now and it had become well accustomed to holding her body, meaning it fitted around her just the way that she loved.

Now she had time to think about everything that had happened. She was once again single. I suppose I’ll have to tell Mum and Dad and everyone else soon enough…. She thought to herself. But all she could be bothered to do at that moment was to sit in her chair, and drink her tea. By the time she got half way through her tea it was past six o’clock and Lani was fast asleep, curled up on her side with her head buried against the leather, just barely holding onto her teacup.

“Lani?” A voice echoed throughout her mind.

“Lani? Come on, look alive.”

“Lani!” It screamed.

“What?! What’s going on?” Lani stuttered confusedly.

A huge dark cloud swept over her and she could feel herself floating alongside thunder and lightning. Shadows crept at the corners of her eyes but each time she turned to search for them they disappeared. Fear racked through her body, making her shake uncontrollably.

“It’s a warning Lani… Don’t ignore it!” The strange, flowing voice said urgently.

“Heed it!” It screeched.

Lani jerked into reality, dropping her teacup, smashing it to bits on her tile floors. Thunder rumbled outside of her window and she was breathing heavily, sweat pouring from her forehead. Her entire body stung and she looked down only to find her entire body covered in tattoos. Dark woods, large wolves clawing at each other, shadows creeping alongside other unrecognizable creatures. Every single stretch of skin on her body was covered by the ink.

Lani screamed.

She ran her hands over her arms, her legs, her stomach. Even across her face. Every surface was covered in the fierce tattoos. She had a vague memory of the dream that had woken her up but it was slowly drifting for her mind. She quickly grabbed a pen and wrote down what she could remember of the floating voice and of it screeching at her. With that she stumbled to her room and took in her body in her full length mirror. She looked hideous. She could barely stand to look at herself without cringing.
