“The body is physically still alive, but yes. The brain is either dead or overcome by insanity.” His tattoo above his eyes turned a dark gray colour, and turned into soft curves, seemingly accentuating the pained tone.
Lani took a few moments to take in everything she had just heard, resting her head in her hands and biting her lip.
“What about your…tattoo? What’s that about?” Lani asked quietly.
“The marks above my eyes? They mimic what I am feeling. The colours are a representation of emotion.” Missalea explained.
“Oh. So what did that grey colour it just turned mean?” Lani asked curiously.
“Grey is pain or sadness… Another negative thing about being Chiaro is that when you use a host, you can feel everything that they feel. You can feel their minds drifting from reality. If they are strong minded enough, you can feel them fighting for their mind… It is horrible, but a necessary part of this job. One lost mind is necessary every now and then to save the rest of humanity...”
“How many do they have already?” Lani asked, fear obvious in her voice.
“About ten, as far as we know. And as far as we know, there are 52 gifted people in this world.” Missalea stated.
Lani stood up from where she had been sitting on the ground and looked Missalea straight in the eye.
“This isn’t just some delusion I’m having is it?” She asked warily.
“I’m afraid it is not Lani.”
“Damn.” She whispered.
“Damn indeed.” He replied.
