She felt woozy and sat down on the foot of her bed before she fell down. She flopped back, lying on her side and sinking into her thick duvet. The world spun around her and she shut her eyes tight, burying her face against her pillows. Before long she was feeling sleepy again but was terrified as to whether the dream would return. But her tiredness overthrew her feeble attempt to stay awake and she was soon deep in her subconscious once again.
“Lani.”
“No! I don’t want this to happen again!” Lani screamed, trying to rip herself back to reality. Before she had succeeded though she felt a warm hand touch her shoulder. She jumped at the unexpected touch and turned quickly, losing her balance. Two strong arms caught her and she looked up to see who they belonged to.
There before her stood a man. A blue man. His entire body was a dark blue colour and she looked up to his face where she saw the strangest thing she had ever seen. Above his eyes where his eyebrows should have been was what seemed to be a tattoo, except it was moving. It danced across his forehead, and Lani tried to decipher specific shapes but they weren’t defined figures. Merely a scope like image moving from one side to the other. Mesmerized, Lani continued to watch until the man spoke again.
“Lani.” He smiled a handsome smile and Lani snapped back into reality. Or what she perceived as reality in this dream.
“Yes?” She whispered.
“I’ve waited a long time to finally meet you.” He gave another dazzling smile and Lani felt weak.
“Who are you?” She asked quietly.
“Oh, my apologies. My name is Missalea.”
“Missalea..?” Lani repeated.
Suddenly, she was jerked awake. She sat up quickly, panting heavily, searching around her room in a panic looking for what had woken her. There was daylight streaming in through her window. That short dream had taken up her entire night, but she was far from rested. She looked up and saw her mum and dad standing above her with horrified expressions on their faces.
“What have you done to your skin!?” They exclaimed in unison.
Great. Lani thought.
Lani sat up slowly, looking down at her skin to see the tattoos were still covering her body. She sighed, trying to think of a believable story that wouldn’t land her in an asylum.
