The sunlight warming her face had Madison stretching. For the first time in her life she slept peacefully. No nightmare to keep her up half the night and no father riping the blankets off of her before the sun even had a chance to rise. Her hand connected with the empty place next to her and she frowned. Had Jake snuck away in the middle of the night?
Sitting up, the sound of running water caught her attention. The sight she saw had her jaw dropping. Jake stood in front of the sink wearing nothing but a pair a loose fitting basketball shorts that hung dangerously low on his hips. One arm was bracing himself on the sink, the muscles flexing under his weight. Madison allowed her eyes to roam up his body and she licked her lips. She couldn't help the thoughts running through her mind as she took in his appearance. She wanted to run her tongue all over, her thought came to a halt. Jake's other hand was up by his mouth and she could see the slight smirk his lips were forming over his toothbrush.
She watched as he finished brushing his teeth before rinsing his mouth. Jake dried his hands and mouth on a towel before combing his fingers through his now shoulder length hair before tying it back with a hair elastic. Running her finger through his hair was something Madison really wanted to experience herself. Jake stalked towards her and her breath caught in her throat.
"Morning Little One."
Before she could open her mouth to say anything Jake leaned over and captured her lips with his. Madison froze, her eyes widening as Jake took his time tasting her. She felt her eyelids slowly closing as he gently cupped her cheek. Madison wrapped her arms around his neck, refusing to let him go. The moment her eyes closed, she could feel all the love he had for her flowing through that kiss and she realized that she wanted to live forever with him.
All to soon Jake was pulling away and Madison let out a light whimper. He chuckled, and she refused to open her eyes or remove her arms from around his neck. The slight embarrassment she was feeling vanished with a squeal as he pinned her to the bed.
"Look at me beautiful."
"No," Madison shook her head rapidly. She was embarrassed. That had been her first kiss and she couldn't believe how she reacted to it.
"Please baby?" Jake pleaded, " please let me look into those gorgeous eyes of yours."
Slowly opening them she was taken back by the intensity shining in his eyes. Jake rubbed the tip of his nose against hers and smiled before nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck. A low growl sent vibrations through his chest and into her body.
"You smell so damn good, your scent is so intoxicating. It's driving me crazy."
Madison gasped. She had heard males talking about how their mate's scent drove them wild. Never did she think it would be said about her. She was so lost in her thought she barely registered the feeling of Jake's tongue slowly gliding up the side of her neck. All to soon the sensation stopped and he stood.
"I gotta get going, Lucas will have my head if I'm late." With another quick kiss Jake was pulling on a shirt and out the door.
Madison snuggled down into Jake's side of the bed and sighed. She wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep, but wanted Jake here with her while she did it. With a groan she flung the covers off before heading towards the bathroom. There was no way she could stay laying in here by herself.
The warmth of the shower water the ran down her back after she step in stung. She had no choice, Jake had to leave before they could treat her back this morning. Reaching for his body wash she smiled when the spiciness reached her nose. She wasn't sure when she would see him again today but he needed his scent to engulf her. She felt safe with him and her anxiety was under control when he was around.
Finishing her shower she quickly dried off before pulling her hair up into a messy bun. Stepping from the bathroom she chewed her lip before she rushed to her dresser. Searching through the drawers she smiled before pulling one of Jake's black t-shirts on.
Scampering to her room she quickly pulled on a pair of jeans and shoes before rushing downstairs. The smell of cooking bacon wafted towards her and her stomach rumbled. Following the smell and the sounds of laughter, Madison paused in the kitchen doorway.
Charlotte was standing over the stove while Grace was relaxing in a nearby chair. Madison watched as she rubbed her swollen stomach with a smile on her face.
"I'm so ready for this baby to come out. I'm way overdue but Shannon said she isn't concerned just yet about it."
"He wants to stay away from all the drama that seems to follow us everywhere," Charlotte chuckled. "Seems like our family is doomed with it."
Madison frowned before clearing her throat, "I hope I'm not interrupting."
Charlotte turned before smiling wide, "never! Come take a seat, breakfast is almost ready. Mom said she'll watch the boys if you want to go with me to the training grounds. I pack up some food and waters for the guys."
Madison nodded and took a seat at the kitchen island, a plate almost immediately appeared before her. Her mouth watered at the sight of the bacon eggs and waffles and she didn't waste time with digging in.
"It's nice to see you eating, and coming out of your shell. You had me worried for awhile." Grace spoke before stuffing her own face.
"So Madison," Charlotte grinned, "I went up to your room earlier to see if you were awake. Imagine my surprise when I found your room empty and your bed not slept in."
Madison could feel her cheeks instantly heat. "Yeah, I didn't."
Charlotte giggled, "you slept in Jake's room last night."
Madison looked at her wide-eyed, "how did you know?"
Charlotte grinned, "he smelled like you when he came down this morning and you smell like his body wash."
Madison smiled before finishing her food. Even though she had just seen him when she woke up she was anxious to see him again. Grace had been right, she was breaking out of her shell. Rushing to wash the dishes she followed Charlotte out the door, a basket of food in her arms.
The walk to the training grounds was quick. Madison was beyond excited to watch Jake in action and if she was honest with herself, she was hoping that he would kiss her again. The way his lips were against hers was nothing she had ever felt before. He had been so gentle with her, not once trying to take anything more than what he was already giving.
The sound of snarling and snapping jaws had her freezing. Swallowing hard she watched as two wolves attacked each other. One of the wolves had a slight limp but was holding his own. His grey fur was matted down with saliva and blood.
He wasn't backing down, not letting his injuries get in the way of his task.Standing across from him was a larger chocolate colored wolf with streaks of carmel throughout his fur. His lips were pulled back, his canines stained in red. His body was poised to lunge at the slightly smaller wolf. In the blink of an eye the wolf's attention snapped to her and the possessive way his eyes trailed down her body had her breath catching in her throat.
