Darkness.
Blurry, foggy darkness with a sharp tang.
A horrifyingly familiar feeling.
I had been here before, this place... I didn't have a name for it. But i had been here. A lab, research institute of some kind, doing genetic experiments on human children.
Most didn't survive, but some, like me, we just unlucky. Human/avian genes.
I remembered now.
I didn't want to. I wished I could forget again.
Struggling against the straps that confined me to a hospital gurney, I was horribly reminded of the nightmare that had persisted me.
Questions now plagued my mind - Who were my parents? How did I get out, and how did I stay unnoticed? What other experiments had they performed on me? How long would i live, if they let me live at all?
Most importantly: how would i get out?
I was pumped on adrenaline, waiting to leap into action at any moment. After several hours, however, i began to loosen.
I was hungry. Very hungry. How long had it been since I'd last eaten?
Visions paraded through my fevered mind. Thick- cut french fries, dipped in barbeque sauce, Large cheeseburgers dripping with grease, slathered in onions and ketchup, chicken ramen noodles with added cumen, rosemary, and garlic, chilled chocolate ice creams filled with creamy chunks of cookie dough, those strange caramel-filled cocoa cookies that Emilia was so good at making.
everything was torture.
i started as a figure suddenly appreared, dressed in a long white lab coat and glasses.
"Experiment 24891. You are property of the Institute of Higher Learning. You may have had the brains to escape us before, maybe even blocked us out altogether, but that wont happen again. Yes... quite facsinating brain readings."
A high female voice tells me, checking a clipboard. "I'll look foreward to dissecting you."
Deftly, she pulls up an IV and attatches it to my arm. The world goes blurry and my thoughts go numb. i just want to sleep. i dont even want food anymore, if thats even possible for me.
She walks off, leaving me to my dreams.
{This chapter is dedicated to my friend Emma, who finally decided to get her butt down to see me.
It s about freaking time.}
