Hurts Too Much

I swiftly walked down the hall to my locker to grab my p.e. clothes.

When I opened the locker, the smell immediately hit me and I gagged.

"God, they're so gross," I muttered to myself, placing the clothing in a plastic bag and stuffing it into my backpack.

I walked out of the locker room towards the front entrance of the school when my phone began ringing. I reached into my pocket to find my phone, but I didn't feel it.

Come harder just because
I don't like it, like it too soft
I like it a little rough,
Not too much, but maybe just enough
Uh huh, see me in th-

I sighed in relief when I found it in my backpack and I hit answer. "Hello?"

"Hey, Laur, where are you?" Dinah asked.

I smiled. "I'll be right there, Dinah. Just had to get something."

"Okay, well hurry up," she said and hung up.

I chuckled to myself and walked faster. Ally, Normani, Dinah, and Camila came into view and Dinah ran over to me and pulled me into a hug. Normani laughed and Ally just approached us. Camila stood there on her phone, smiling at it. Deep down, I couldn't help but wonder what she was smiling at.

"Okay, ready to go?" Normani asked.

I nodded. "I am."

"Great," Ally said. "Let's go."

The five of us began walking. "Sooo where we going?" I asked.

"Pizza place down the street, remember?" Dinah asked.

I nodded. "Riiiiiiight."

"Who you texting, Mila?" Normani asked, casually looking over Camila's shoulder to see.

"Austin," she replied shortly and I frowned.

I never understood why she liked that asshole. He was a fuckboy and he wasn't even that good looking. And his personality was shit.

"Oh. Well, could you actually pay attention to us for once instead of texting that annoying asshole?" I muttered.

Everyone went silent and looked at me.

"What?"

"You okay, Lauren?" Normani asked, and I just rolled my eyes.

"I'm fine."

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged.

My phone vibrated, but I ignored it. It kept vibrating every few seconds, and I got sick of it so I checked who was spamming me.

12 new messages from Allycat

I looked up at Ally and she just stared at me, probably waiting for me to look at the messages.

I sighed and opened them.

Allycat: I don't believe that. You only go off on people when you're stressed out or "thinking".

Me: Ugh

Me: It just hurts.

Allycat ❤: What hurts?

I looked up to make eye contact with her and she frowned. I shook my head and mouthed "later".

She sighed and put her phone back in her pocket. I did the same.

After three hours, we went back to Ally's house, without Camila. Camila wanted to go see Austin.

We were sat on Ally's bed, playing Minecraft when Dinah turned to look at me.

"So why'd you go off on Camila today?"

I sighed and Ally and Normani turned their attention to me.

"You did say you'd talk about it later, Laur," Ally added.

I took a deep breath. "Well... I'm sick of this. Yeah, she finally has someone who she likes. But I feel like she's just rubbing it in my face. She knows how I feel about her, yet she doesn't even seem to think about how this is affecting me. If she really cared like she says she does, she would at least try not to be all about Austin all the damn time. It's like she doesn't give a fuck about how bad this hurts," I said.

The three girls looked at each other.

"You should talk to her," Normani suggested.

I laughed bitterly. "Fuck that. I'd rather fling myself into the sun."

"Well you gotta do something. I can't let you sit here and suffer. Do I have to beat some sense into her? You know I will," said Dinah.

I shook my head. "As much as she kinda deserves it, don't. I just... I wish she knew how much this hurt."

Ally put a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry. It'll be okay."

I sighed sadly. "That's what everyone always says, but that doesn't make it true."

Our conversation was interrupted by a knock on Ally's bedroom door.

"Come in," the four of us said in harmony.

The door slowly opened and Camila entered the room.

"Great," I mumbled.

"Lauren, I'm so sorry," Camila said, ignoring the other girls. "I heard everything. I'm so sorry. I didn't know this was hurting you do much. If I'd known, I'd have stopped."

"Whatever."

Camila frowned.

Dinah stood up slowly, glaring at Camila. I quickly grabbed her arm before she could do anything.

"DJ, don't," I demand.

She just kept glaring, but slowly sat down again.

"Camila, I can't do this," I said quietly. "You just... this hurts too much. It hurts to see you. To be around you. I don't think we should be friends anymore."

Camila's eyes widened and she frowned. "B-but-," she stuttered.

"Camila. Please. Just go. It hurts too much."

She looked down and nodded.

The rest of us watched as she left the room, and Normani stood up.

"I'm gonna go make sure she's alright," she stated, and went after the younger girl.

"Everything will be okay, Laur. I'm here. Dinah too," Ally said, pulling me into a hug.

I nodded. "Can we just keep playing?"

Dinah and Ally smiled and nodded, and we went back to building our "World's Biggest Mansion".
