Bruno sat across from Alexa admiring her beauty. He couldn’t believe that someone as beautiful as her had been alone for almost two years.
“So what’s your story?”
“Hmm,” he asked clearly surprised that she wanted to know him, the real him.
“Why is someone like you single, I mean you’re great.”
His mouth turned up a little at that compliment.
“My ex broke up with me because I was ‘manly enough’ for her.”
Alexa choked on her Sprite.
If you only knew how manly you could be for me.
Bruno laughed out loud at her. Embarrassed, Alexa dropped her head onto the table.
“I could show how manly I could be for you, but I’m a gentleman,” he told her winking.
“I have got to stop talking out loud.”
“Don’t, I like that shade of red on you.”
Alexa was pretty sure that she was blushing all over herself now and just wanted to leave before she did something stupid.
“Are you ready to go home?”
She only nodded not trusting her own voice. Bruno paid for the cheek and placed her hand in his, earning her weird looks from the other females that were out. He could tell that she had went back into her shell, so he squeezed her hand gently.
“You’re going to have to get used to those stares baby girl because now you’re mine.”
Alexa’s eyes grew big.
“But I-”
He pressed his lips to hers and he swore that the world could have been on fire and he wouldn’t have noticed, she had some of the softest lips and he couldn’t get enough. When he pulled away he saw her chest moving rapidly up and down trying to catch her breath.
“I’ll take you home.”
She nodded her head and he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and pecked her lips once again before leading her to his car.
“Where am I headed babe?”
“11235 Bowlers Avenue,” she said still a little winded from their kiss.
“Sounds pretty fancy.”
She giggled a little.
“My mom is a lawyer, so yea.”
“And what do you do?”
She bit her lip.
“Promise you won’t judge?”
“I promise.”
“I want to be a pediatrician.”
Bruno was very impressed with the girl that was sitting across from him.
“So what happened?”
“My ex.”
He noticed her tears had began to overflow in her eyes.
“Why don’t you go back?”
“I really don’t know, but I kind of fell in love with what I’m doing now which is owning a boutique with my sister.”
“As long as you’re happy.”
She smiled over at him.
“I am.”
Before he knew it he’d pulled up to her house and walked her to the door.
“I had a great time tonight.”
“Yea, me too.”
“I’ll call you later on today?”
“I’ll be waiting.”
He pulled her in closer and kissed her forehead before she closed the door softly.
Lauren had successfully scared her sister shitless.
“How did you get Bruno Mars to bring you home?”
Alexa didn’t answer her and walked up the stairs.
“It’s been a long night and I really want and need sleep.”
“Fine but I want the full story in the morning over breakfast.”
“I got you ma.”
Lauren laughed and shook her head at her sister. At least she was beginning to become herself again.
