Katrina Blake was a sophomore at Berkeley High, California. She was a short girl with black hair and black eyes which she oh so loved to emphasize with her eyeliner. She was passed the "new kid" era and had adapted to her place now, it was the time for a hunt. It was all fun and games  to know about people, their lives, finding cute boys – stalking them. There were, however, two things to know about her and this way of living; one, she wasn't exactly the social type and two, good luck boys at making her feel something.

Bunch of boys she found attractive, liked to check out their Facebook and Intagram profiles, maybe added them on snapchat but most of them were forgotten in a day. One day, unexpectedly, one boy caught her eye, more than usual...

Kat came to school and spotted a crowd surrounding something. Someone. She plowed her way through the crowd to see a thin, light brown haired girl was the center of attention. Normally, someone would call her short or maybe even tiny but Kat was shorter than her – shorter than the majority of the school. Thus making everyone around her appear taller. This was one of Kat's three best friends, Isabelle Lockwood. "So you're telling us that they're your family's friends?" said a blonde girl. "What else do you get from that photo? I told you they're old friends." Izzy, replied. Kat glanced at the screen of the iphone that the girl was holding out. There were 5 people sitting by a fancy dining table. Two of them had the same light brown hair as Izzy 's – her parents - and the other two were slightly taller than them; a woman with hair dyed a ruby red and a man with dark brown hair - the famous Fitzgerald couple. Peter Fitzgerald used to be a guitarist in one of the most popular Rock Bands of LA and Elle Fitzgerald is a name you can always hear in an art gallery, likely as the owner of the most charming master piece. They've been together since adolescence and had thrived among the artistic community hand in hand, which makes their name as the Fitzgerald's known widely. The 5th was a boy, that seemed to be around Kat's age. He was tall and "damn handsome" Kat thought.

She was dying to ask who that was but she wasn't stupid enough to question her in front of practically every girl in school. So, she waited, waited until the school was over and until they were at her house. If it wasn't Izzy, it would've taken Kat a while to get to the point but since it was, she went straight in and asked her directly while they were eating their pizzas that the pizza boy had only just brought, "Who was that boy?". "Which boy, the pizza boy?" Izzy asked. "No, not that boy. The boy in  the photo with your parents and the Fitzgeralds" she explained. "Oh," Izzy started as she swallowed a bite of her pizza, "don't you know him? He's the only son of the Fitzgerald's. We used to hang around and play together as children  when we lived in LA." Another charming masterpiece of Ella's Kat thought before confessing "I don't know him.I mean, I knew they had a son, you told me a couple of times but I've never seen him. I would've remembered." She indicated. "Waitt, you liked him, didn't you?" Izzy's face was brightened up  with realisation.

A light brown-haired and green eyed girl with a big smile and a high-pitched voice is walking by Kat in the school corridors. She seems so excited about what she is talking about but "she is always excited about the things she talks about." Kat thinks to herself. Brandice Germaine is another friend of Kat's. She prefers to be called Ice. Normally, people would say Brandy or something like that but nothing about Ice was ever seen normal to her – maybe that's why they became friends in the first place.

"Yesterday, I was looking for a name to a character in my new story and I wanted to give him a name that meant enthusiastic because he is a drummer and energetic and loves what he does and I love imagining him as an enthusiastic guy. So I googled it and a few Indian names came up but he isn't Indian so I searched a little more until guess which name I found." Ice told Kat. Although Kat enjoyed helping Ice out with her stories and appreciated her interest in writing and all the other things she keeps coming up with and babbling about, the high-pitched voice, long sentences and Kat's distance from the subjects in general made it difficult for her to keep up with that, to be honest, most of the time she just gets lost in the middle. As the talking turn was passed to her, she woke up from the millions of thoughts going over her head. "You know that I have no idea about name meanings, right?" She caught the subject. "Arden." was all that Ice said. "What's with Arden?" asked Kat. "That's the name." Ice explained, "The one that means enthusiasm." I'll call him enthusiasm from now on." Ice informed. She could be a little childish sometimes but the inside jokes she finds allowed her to mock around people who didn't understand a thing and made them both laugh. Ice loved the baffled looks of other people and proudly telling them "You wouldn't understand."

Izzy was now approaching them with a relatively tall boy next to her, who had brown hair a bit darker than hers and bright blue eyes hidden behind black spectacles. Luke Wilkinson is the guy best friend of the group, which essentially has a golden value, since a view from the opposite sex might be necessary at some point – especially, when the subject is, obviously, other boys.

"He's coming here!" Luke exclaimed as Izzy opened her mouth and closed it in a second. "I was going to tell her." she said with disappointment. "Who?" Ice questioned. Finally, Izzy got the chance to explain things when Luke gave her permission, "Okay. Okay. You can tell the rest, I just wanted to be the one to give the exciting news."

"Last night mom was on the phone with Elle and she dropped the news that Arden is starting Berkeley College next week. Can you keep an eye on him things. So anyway, that means for the next 4 years, Arden will be in Berkeley. Maybe you can meet him." Izzy explained with immense excitement in her voice yet it  still wasn't as high as Ice's when she was explaining something relatively exciting, or just mildly interesting. Kat felt a heat rushing through her face. For the last year, she's been keeping an eye on him on all kinds of social media, they had even exchanged a couple of snaps but she never saw that coming. After all, although they had a common friend, he was an Angelino with celebrities for parents – what were the chances of him coming to Berkeley to live for 4 years. Well, that was Kat's luck, though she was never certain on whether it's luck or not, since he has always made her nervous.

"Well, hopefully, we won't be in Berkeley in 2 years." Ice pointed out and Luke shot a dirty glance at her, "Shut up, Ice."
