Fifty Nine

(A year later: The wedding day)

Nicki

I was freaking out and its hours til the wedding starts.

"Where is Melanie?" I question.

"Nicki she is fine. Calm down" my mama says walking over to me as I look into the mirror at myself.

"My anxiety is up! I'm nervous ma" I say.

"Okay baby listen to me" she says taking both my hands. "You love Meek right?" She asks.

"Yes" I answer.

"He makes you happy right?"

"Yes" I answer.

"Then what are you nervous for? That man is probably freaking out just as you are but guess what, he will have himself together when he sees you because you are the love of his life and beautiful" she says cupping my face. I smile. My bridesmaids then walk in and admire me in my dress.

"Nicki you look so beautiful!" Candi says. I smile.

"Yeah Nic. My brother picked him a winner" Na says.

"Thanks" I say smiling.

"Oh let me look at her" Kathy says entering the room. "You're so gorgeous!" She says. I laugh looking at her expression.

"Y'all I'm so nervous" I say.

"You know Meek might be a little nervous too but when he sees you he will be okay" Na says.

"You think?" I ask.

"Nicki calm down. Yes! You're gorgeous and it's your wedding day" Na says coming to put my necklace on me.

"You want some water to drink?" My mom asks me.

"No. I already had to pee like twenty times. If I drink anything now I probably won't make it down the isle" I say. She laughs.

"All the guest are getting seated. Papi has both the rings and the men are about to walk out" Thembi says. I do my breathing exercises and close my eyes. I hear everyone exiting the room.

"Mama where is daddy?" I ask.

"Right here babygirl" I hear. I smile opening my eyes. Him and my mom were standing and looking at me.

"You look so beautiful " he says kissing my cheek.

"Thanks daddy" I say. He says putting my veil over my face. I wrap my arm around his and we walks out into the area.

"Stop here" my mama says. I seen a glimpse of the back of Meek's head and laugh on the inside. I start to get butterflies.
When it comes time for us to walk down I hear the music and we enter seeing everyone looking my way.

I was so happy I had something to cover my face because I felt a look of nervousness could of been showing. I get closer and closer to Meek and become joyous. Reality hit that this is my wedding day. I'm about to marry Meek.

I stand watching Nicki walk down the isle and all I can think of is this is who I will be with for the rest of my life.
