Group Therapy

I walk in between Kade and Jason into the supposedly cheery group therapy room. It looks like someone barfed up a neon rainbow, the hard plastic bright yellow chairs, placed in a circle, surrounded by the extravagantly decorated props which we were to use to "express our feelings". I don't have to use them anymore, thank god, because I pretended that the rainstick I was holding was one that I was trying to get out of Dr. Fresdit's ass. Best thing I've done since I've been here. I could even see the half hidden smile on Dr. Bamph's face. She's the one who runs group therapy. I mean, sure she scolded me and everything, but I could always tell she wasn't Dr. Fresdit's biggest fan either. Needless to say, they have given up on trying to get me to self express. I flop down in a seat next to Kade and a kid named Fae. Fae was sent here for pyromania and she's a pretty cool kid. I would say we were friends. She's 5'4, slim with blonde hair and mocha eyes. She never, ever lies. If you ask her a question you will get the undoubtable truth and you always know where you stand with her. Sure, if she wants to keep a secret, she just won't say anything about it. Like how she was setting buildings on fire. We say a quick hello and I turn around to face Dr. Bamph. Dr. Bamph is the youngest doctor here. She's very pretty, with a supermodel like build. She's definitely my favourite out of the doctors who "help" here, because she seems to genuinly care. That doesn't mean I like her, or that I don't think she is just setting herself up for failure, but I appreciate and wonder at the amazing amount of hope she seems to store in her body.

Dr. Bamph claps her hands trying to get the attention of all 8 of us in this group. She looks up at a grungy looking person that I had never seen before shuffling into the room. "I would like you all to meet Ria." She announces in her medium toned voiced as she gestures to the only empty chair for the new girl. "She is new here-" everyone snorts and comments on the obviousness of the statement "so I would like you all to go around and tell her your name, your age how long you've been here and why you are here. Ricki, you go first.

"Ricki, 17, bipolar, insomnia, 3 years." he mumbles. Ricki's not one to talk much or get involved, but he's been here the longest in our group, so if you catch him in a good mood and you ask really nicely he has extensive knowledge to pass on.

Next is Lune. "Hi! My name is Lune. I'm 16 and i've been here for 7 months for anorexia." She says in that peppy tone of hers. Don't let the cheeriness fool you. Lune is a first class bitch who thinks everyone is fat and worthless just because they don't weigh 70lbs.

Up to bat is Hash. "Hello, my name is Hash I'm 15, I've been here a year for OCD, or obsessive compulsive disorder. I hope that you'll be happier here." Hash is the sweetest out of everyone here, heck probably the whole world. Even if you've been the meanest a person can be to him, he will still help you out in a heartbeat. I think of him as a little brother, even if he is a few months my senior.

Them comes Fae. "Hey, I'm Fae-"

"That rhymes!" I quickly interject. I can see Fae starting to laugh and Kade face palming.

"As I was saying, I'm Fae, 16 years old and i've been here for 2 and a half years for pyromania."

Now it's my turn. "My name is Jazz, I'm 15 years old and I've been here 2 years for the ever exciting and exclusive diagnoses of schizophrenia and depression." I lilt out in a sarcastic tone. I see her eyes light up when I say schizophrenia. That's probably what she has then, so she's trying to find similarities to hold onto in this strange, new environment.

Kade goes and does his thing. "Hey, I'm Kade, I just turned 17 and i've been here for a year and a half for kleptomania. I apologize for Jazz, don't let her scare you." He finishes off with a wink. Always the ladies man.

"Depression." Effie mumbles.

"Speak up, dear, and say your name too." Dr. Bamph chides.

"Fine. I'm Effie, I'm 18, I've been here for 10 months for depression." She bites out.

"Name's Craig. Been here 'bout 11 months for bulimia. 16 years old." Craig regularly tries to be a gangster but epically fails every time. He's a gigantic douche.

"Ria, can you tell us about yourself?" Dr. Bamph questions.

"I'm 16 years old and I am diagnosed with schizophrenia." She gets out in a scared tone. I was right! Yay! Maybe I could talk to her about the actual symptoms.

"Now it's time to get started."
