I waited for my dad outside of the police office because he said he would take me home. I felt my phone vibrate and I took it out of my pocket, it was Ty asking me what happened at the station. I told him everything was alright and slipped the phone back into my pocket. My dad walked out the station to his car and I followed. I got in, closed the door, and rested my head against the window, I pondered the whole way home about the entire situation, it was so surreal.
When we arrived, I didn't say a word to my dad and just walked out the far and to the door. I took out my key, opened the door and walked in while my dad followed. My mom was at the kitchen table and stood up when I walked by "Paul, are you okay?" She asked. I paused, wiped away a tear and continued walking upstairs. I plopped down on my bed, constantly wiping away tears. I took out my phone and went online, all the top stories featured were of Jane, 'Teen Found In Freezer' 'Mother finds daughter's corpse in freezer' 'Body of Teen Girl who disappeared days ago found in a freezer' were just some of the many headlines. I turned my phone off and threw it across the room, cracking the screen in the process.
Ty's Perspective:
She's gone, I didn't think that something like this would happen, especially in the 'Happy go Lucky, nothing bad ever happens here' town that we live in. I could tell that Jane's death hit Paul really hard, he wasn't focused on anything but her. Although Jane and I weren't as close as She and Paul were, we were still pretty good friends and I couldn't believe that she was actually gone, I was in disbelief the entire day.I walked the halls at school the next morning, remembering when Jane, Paul, and I walked down these halls together. I ran into Paul, we chatted but that was put to a close when I overheard Chad Herring, the school's football team captain, say to his friends who asked why Paul and I were so quiet and gloomy "they're crying because of Jane, that girl on the news who was found in a freezer, rumor has it she was also raped, I believe it, she seemed like a slut" Paul also heard Chad and walked over to him "what did you just say?" He asked "what?" Chad replied "what the fuck did you just say?!?" Paul continued, Chad chuckled and turned around with his girlfriend Amanda standing behind him "you must be Paul, your Jane's, boyfriend right?" He asked "what the fuck did you say about her?! you watch what the hell you say about her!" Paul exclaimed. Chad walked up to him and punched him in the stomach making him fall to the ground. I began walking up to Chad furious that he hit Paul but Paul stopped me, got up, turned Chad around and punched him in the face, soon they were fighting. The teachers eventually came to break it up and Paul got only detention while Chad was kicked out for about a week.
Paul's Perspective:
I never liked Chad, he's been an asshole since elementary school, he was a bully in middle school and still is. I wanted to ignore him but anger just overcame me and I snapped, I couldn't control it. I wasn't mad that I got detention, I needed some time away from home, it reminded me too much of Jane. I did absolutely nothing in detention, I was done with all my work so I just sat there. I put my headphones in under my hood so that the teacher couldn't see them, turned on some music and tried falling asleep. After detention, I didn't want to go home so I called up Ty who let me stay at his place. He picked me up from the school and we drove off towards his house. It was a quiet drive as I didn't really have anything to say "at the police station..." I started "huh?" Ty asked "when I was at the police station, they thought that I did it" I said "what! why?!" Ty asked "they, they found the knife used to kill her in my room" I said "how the hell did it get in your room?" Ty asked "I don't know, someone planted it there, this was all planned, whoever did it tried to frame me" I said "did they say anything else about Jane while you were at the police station?" Ty asked "well, I'm still a suspect since no DNA was found on the knife and they think that I wiped my finger prints off of it" I said. We arrived at his house soon after the conversation. His mom wasn't home so we just went upstairs to his room. I slept in a sleeping bag next to his bed even though we didn't sleep, we couldn't sleep just thinking that Jane's killer is out there somewhere and we aren't doing anything to find them.
The next day, Ty was driving me home when he stopped the car by Jane's house. The police searched Jane's house in hopes of finding any evidence leading up to her death. They couldn't find anything because the killer covered their tracks very well. I asked my dad if he could tell us anything while Ty followed "no, I can't give away any information" he said "but dad, someone planned this we need to find out who did it!" I said "I know that but I can't tell you that son, it can cost me my job" he said "okay" I said. Ty and I drove off but we weren't giving up, we were determined to find Jane's killer or killers and put an end to a possible murder spree that could happen if they aren't stopped, we can't let this happen to anybody else.
