All I could think about was Jane, and what she went through before her body was found. All I could think about was how beautiful she was, fair skin, light brown eyes and dark brown hair and a rounded face. She was always so happy and full of life. She would always see the good in everyone and everything. We would often talk about movies and tv shows together, particularly Game of Thrones, which was her favorite. She would say that I reminded her of Jaime Lannister because of my blonde hair. Ty had never seen Game of Thrones which prompted Jane to repeatedly say "shame" until he eventually watched it.
Ty fell in love with the show and talked about it with us, Jane said that Ty reminded her of Greyworm because he rather looked like him in a weird way. I couldn't bare to watch another episode of Game of Thrones because it reminded me of times I had with her. Everytime I even attempted to watch an episode, I'd hear her voice in my head.
My mom was working the late shift so I had the place to myself. I turned layed down on my bed and pulled my phone out. I plugged in my earbuds and turned my phone, and playing a random playlist. I layed there like a pertrified piece of wood on a lake. I stared up at the ceiling while my earbuds were at max volume playing some rock song. My eyelids slowly slid down on my eyes and the music faded away as I fell asleep.
The next day, I slowly got up out of my bed at the sound of the alarm buzzing. My phone was close to dying so I put it on the charger while I got ready for the day. I went to my closet and pulled out a long sleeved black shirt, some black jeans, and a pair of black Chuck Taylor's.
I went to the bathroom to freshen up by brushing my teeth with some new (but cheap) toothpaste my mom bought to "save money". I brushed my teeth as fast as I could as I was running out of time to get ready. A car horn beeped from outside my window, it was Ty. I grabbed my clothes and quickly put them on as I ran downstairs to the car, tripping over myself in the process.
I got into the car and turned to Ty who was waiting for me the entire time "sorry" I said "don't sweat it" he said. Ty put the car in drive and slowly pressed his foot against the gas pedal. We we're halfway close to the school when I finally decided to open my mouth and apologize to Ty "I'm sorry" Ty looked confused "sorry? about what?" He asked "yesterday, I--" "It's okay" he said "I understand, with everything that's happening, it's not your fault" he said.
We looked up ahead and were shocked to see the police parked outside the school "What the hell's going on?" Ty asked. We drove into the parking lot and got out of the car. We slowly walked towards the front doors of the school. We walked in and everything was normal as we proceeded towards the classroom.
We made it to the classroom but we're far from on time. I sat in the back of the classroom and Ty sat right beside me. The teacher, Mrs. Sanchez, continued on with the lesson. This was Calculus, the class that was so extremely long and boring that it made me want to drop out of school, this was also Jane's least favorite class. Jane's favorite class was American Literature because she was a huge bookworm, her favorite books were of course A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games, she was also a big fan of the Animorphs and Goosebumps books.
I wasn't really into books myself until Jane got me hooked on Harry Potter, before then I'd only seen half of the first movie but I've now seen each and every one of them and I read the first three books. It amazes me that Jane and I got to know each other so well although she was only at this school for a year.
I know it sounds very cliche but, I would rather it be me who was murdered than her because she was so sweet and humble and didn't deserve this, she was quite possibly the nicest person I'd ever met and it sickens me that someone would just cut her precious life so short. I wanted to walk up to the fucking prick who killed her and show them what it feels like to have someone you care about taken away from you, but in a way that would make just as bad them, what I really wanted was for them to get caught so I could just know who did it, I can't live with knowing that my best friend's murderer was still running around somewhere.
The bell finally rang, Ty and I hurriedly grabbed our bags and left the room. We walked to our lockers which were right next to Jane's locker where Melissa was standing next to with a single tear falling down her left cheek as she placed her hand on the locker. Melissa looked over at Ty and I, wiped the tear away and walked to her next class, It saddened me to see her this way, I could tell how hard this was for her, it was harder for her than Ty and I.
There was a mini mural on Jane's locker. A picture of her in the middle of the locker with flowers around it, under her picture were the words we miss you with a heart written next to it. There were also sticky notes around the flowers with cute little notes like you were one in a million and rest in peace, beautiful angel. My eyes began watering and I wiped the tears away. I opened my locker and looked in horror while stepping back from it, Ty and I were both horrified by what was inside it. There was blood everywhere. People around us screamed which alerted a teacher to walk over. The teacher, Mr. Collins, looked in horror as well before escorting me to the office and the police were called.
