Ty and I went back to the original crime scene which was a few paces from my house. I could see something poking out of the grass, it was a napkin "what's that?" Ty asked "It's a napkin, I think it might have some DNA on it, I could ask my dad to run some tests on it" I said. I grabbed some gloves out of my backpack and put the napkin in a plastic bag and placed it in the backpack. Ty and I then got into the car and drove to the police station "do you really think there's some DNA on that? I mean, it could've been cleaned off" Ty asked "probably, that's why we still have to look around for things that could lead up to the killer, and when we find out who that is, I want him or her fucking dead" I said. I think I might've of scared Ty a little because he got quiet after I said that and just continued driving.
After a brief car ride, we made it to the police station. I got out of the car and heard my phone buzz, it was my mom. She texted me "don't be out late! there's a curfew tonight!" I responded with okay and put the phone right back in my pocket. Ty and I headed into the station and my dad was walking around with a coffee mug in his hand "Dad!" I exclaimed which quickly got his attention "hey, what are you doing here?" He asked "um, we got some potential evidence on Jane's murder" I said quietly and slightly slid out of my bag before slipping it back in.
Dad took us into his office and talked with Officer Wilson about the evidence. Officer Wilson then came out to talk to us "where did you find the evidence?" She asked "by her house" I said "Okay, I'm gonna get someone to run some DNA tests on it" she said "Okay" I said. I unzipped my bag and gave her the baggy that the evidence was in.
Ty's Perspective:
It took a while, I could see how worried and anxious Paul was. He kept looking at his phone and looking back up at the clock, he rapidly tapped his foot "Paul, you okay?" I asked "huh? Yeah I'm just, worried, what if we don't find out who killed her and whoever did it just gets away with it" he said "just try to be positive about it, I'm sure we'll find out who killed her" I said. Officer Wilson came out the other room which made Paul quickly stand up "there wasn't any DNA other than Jane's on the napkin but we did find chloroform on it" she said "No DNA?" Paul asked "the killer must've been wearing gloves" she said. Paul storms out in frustration and I followed behind him shortly after.I caught up to Paul who was standing outside "hey, Paul you ne-" I said before he cut me off "no, just, let's go" he said. We got into the car and drove off, this car ride was even more quiet than the one before. We shortly arrived at Paul's house and without saying a word, he got out the car and went inside the house. I was going to say something but decided not to and just drove home.
Paul's Perspective:
I didn't know how to feel, I really wanted to find out who killed her so he or she could rot in prison somewhere for their crimes. I just really wanted her killer to be caught and not let this be one of those stories where the killer was never caught because, whoever it is shouldn't just be running around without being punished for what they did. I just wish none of this ever happen, I wish Jane was still here.
