I hate trimming my hair. But it's something I have to do unfortunately. Trimming should be done when necessary but regularly. If you don't you'll have split ends, ragged ends, they just won't be the best. So trim not religiously but regularly.
I trim my hair every 6 months or as needed. I currently have split ends, only because of I didn't trim my hair for a long time. It breaks my heart to trim my own hair but in order to retain growth you must. You must trim.
Give yourself a pep talk or watch videos to ensure if you trim your hair yourself your ready. If you aren't have your mom or a relative, for me a female because guys don't always know what to do in my family, and have them trim your ends.
You can always go to the shop. My friend does it to ensure there are no mistakes. Which I understand but anyone can make mistakes. So I let it be by my hand instead of someone else's. No one is going to care for your hair like you care for it. So the option is totally up to you.
Heat or naw?
You can blow your hair out or stretch it, even do it on freshly washed hair. I think it's better to have your hair stretched or blown out to ensure that no mistakes happen. But I trim my hair in twists as well.
Procedure
You'll need
> scissors strictly for hair
> clips
> a mirror
> rubber bandsIt's easy to do, twist your hair in 6-8 twists. Freshly washed or stretched hair. Grab the twist your going to trim, and clip the rest of them away. Clip the ends as needed. Place a rubber band on the twist you've just completed and clip it away. Continue doing this for the remaining twists.
Trim your hair when your relaxed and not busy to ensure no irritation or mkstakes.
You don't wanna clip a curl or something, it's not the best thing. 😐
