Stella's POV

It was prom week. I was so excited I had this constant tingly feeling inside. We all had our dresses picked out and ready. We made a group chat and right now I was looking at pictures of everyone's dresses that they were sending. Willow and Vivian's dresses were similar- they were both navy and silver. Vivian's was pretty classic-

But Willow's was a much more entertaining picture-

Aurora's was a really cute light pink dress-

Then there was Aria. Her dress was a matte gold color and she had gotten a Grecian gold leaf crown to wear with it.

Most of the men were wearing pretty similar things. They were all wearing vests except Blake and they were all wearing classic ties except Xavier who was wearing a gold bow tie. Merrick's tux was navy blue with a matching tie. His vest and pants were gray with a white shirt. Alonzo was wearing something coordinating with Willow but no one actually knew what. Blake was wearing some kind of tan tux/suit thing with a pink tie that matched Aura's dress. Adrian was wearing a silver/gray tux with a purple vest and tie that matched my dress. Xavier had a classic black tux with a gold vest and bow tie that matched Aria's dress.

We had plans to take pictures at three thirty so that we could get to the school for the Grand March at six with plenty of time. After that was dinner at seven thirty, the dance at nine, and finally after prom. To be honest, I was pretty sure we were going to have an after after prom party at my house.

With prom at the end of the week, Aria, Blake, and I were crazy busy. We were on prom committee so we had to plan and set up the entire junior-senior prom. Last year, Xavier and Everly had been on it and they said they were relieved they didn't have to do it again.

When Saturday finally arrived, I so excited that I forgot all about the fact that I had gotten 20 something hours of sleep in the past week. It was like a caffeine high that wasn't wearing off. Aria, Vivian, Willow, and Aurora all came over to my house and my mom, my aunt (Xavier's mom), and Willow's mom started doing our hair and makeup. Willow's mom and I kind of took charge of makeup while the other two did hair. In two hours, we were ready for pictures.

We were taking pictures downtown. We met the boys there and the photographer, a friend of Aria's family, started taking pictures. My dad would have taken pictures, he's pretty good at that stuff, if he had been in town. I was just glad my mom was home. Pictures took about forty-five minutes. The location was absolutely beautiful. We drove back to my house and waited for the limousine my mom had arranged for us.

The limo dropped us off at the school and we all headed backstage for the Grand March. At first they just called us up with our dates just like we had practiced. Then groups of people and teams went up together. I went up with the cheerleaders, drama students, and the speech team. When the March was over and everyone had gone we were directed into the cafeteria for dinner where the banquet had been set up. It was incredible.

Our theme was The Enchanted Forest. Twinkle lights hung from the ceiling and in the entryway was an arch made of branches. The tables had gorgeous centerpieces on them with white peonies and branchy leaves. There were little lanterns placed strategically around the room so that, combined with the little twinkle lights, we could see well even though the lights were off. In the middle of the room there was a big tree with lights wrapped around it and we had to go up to it and look at the seating chart pinned on the tree to find where to go.

We had smoked brisket and I understand why the dinner had cost $35 per plate. It actually was pretty cheap for what we were getting. There was 8 people per table so that meant 4 couples. It was me and Adrian, Xavier and Aria, Aurora and Blake, and Vivian and Merrick. We talked about a lot of things. A lot of memories from elementary school all the way through high school. We had a lot of them. After a while we realized we only had a few more months before the seniors would be off to college and we realized we needed to make the most of our summer.

After a long debate we finally decided what we wanted to do. I was performing in some summer musicals in June and July and we decided in August we were going to take a road trip. My family had an old Volkswagen van that we could drive. We didn't know where we were going yet but we all agreed it would be perfect. We would take the last week of July and the first week in August right before the seniors had to go to school and hit the road. Merrick and Vivian both had commitments and they'd have to go home after the first week but that was okay. I was already excited just thinking about it. Aurora's parents would be the hardest to convince but we would sure try. When we were all done eating we waited in the commons area for everyone else. My heart fluttered with all the possibilities for my first prom night.
