"What a delight! you look beautiful, love."
Klaus said, a little bit too joyful considering the fact that he was more than determined to end my life just less than 20 hours ago.
I hardly held back a scoff at his words as he opened the door wider and turned around, paying no attention whatsoever to Vaughn as he walked inside. Vaughn and I followed intently. I thought the outside of the house was beautiful but the inside had me at a loss for words. I stood frozen in the foyer, stunned by the beauty of the house. The ceiling was high and curved with a giant chandelier that hung like a pendant. The wooden floors gleamed from the moon light pouring in from the huge windows. But that was nothing like what i saw next. A beautiful grand piano sat off in a corner by a granite top bar. The lighting made it glitter like a diamond. It's stark white keys mingled with the deep, smooth onyx of the wood as it called to me. i had to restrain myself from walking towards it as we had to keep walking behind Klaus. We finally reached a large wooden dining table that had all kinds of food on it, and a couple of candles in the middle, giving the place a cozy atmosphere. That's when Klaus finally turned around to face us.
"Caroline won't be able to join us, unfortunately. There have been some..complications and she had to leave."
It was then i finally noticed that Caroline was nowhere in sight.
"It's a good thing you showed up, Although i had no idea you were going to bring some.." He paused, eyeing Vaughn from top to bottom in dismay "..Company." He spat, rather unfriendly. Vaughn wasn't giving him the nicest looks in the world either.
"You spelled 'protection' wrong, mate." Vaughn replied in a sickeningly sweet voice. Klaus looked at him with a glare.
"And who are you?" He inquired.
"Please excuse my unexpected interruption to your supposedly-friendly-but-most-likely-an-attempt-to-get-the-girl-alone-to-kill-her dinner. But i am Galen Vauhgn, King of the unnatural and the obcene in Atlanta. And if i had to choose a favourite hobby, it would definitely be hunting your kind." Vaughn finished his sentence with a sweet smile and a provocative wink. Oh for the love of all things holy, this will not be good.
"King? Well unfortunately, we aren't in Atlanta. Here I am king. I am the hunter and you are but a mere prey."
"Is that so? Well apparently, someone didn't get the message."
"Well, you can be the one to deliver it."
They had gotten incredibly closer to one another in the past few minutes, it seems as though each time someone replied he would take an involuntary step forward. I stood by watching the whole display between the two men in a startled expression, not knowing what to do. I managed to stand between them, my face to Vaughn and my back to Klaus in hopes that this unfriendly exchange would come to an end.
"Alright, Vaughn that's enough." I said after struggling to find my voice, and I placed both of my hands on his chest, gently trying to push him back. Needless to say, he didn't budge. I don't think he even noticed my presence at all as he was too involved in the glaring match he was currently having with Klaus.
"I can be the one to deliver it? Oh, really? Bring it." Vauhgn took a threatening step towards Klaus until I was almost sandwiched between them. In any other circumstance it would be a pretty good sandwich.
"Don't waste my time." Klaus said.
"Scared you'll get the dust knocked out of you?"
"Vaughn!" I hissed, trying to get him to listen to me.
