Everyone in this world has a soulmate. Mine was an assassin.

I always knew my soulmate would be different. I was myself. Everyday at school I'd be always be the outcast, the freak, the one no one would be friends with. My soulmate, I was promised, would change all of that.

No one shows you your soulmate. You find him or her yourself. Many never find their soulmate in their short lifetime. They're called Dalesmen. They walk about life with no purpose, living on the streets and mournfully staring at the chewing gum covered floor, hoping for salvation. It's hell for them but no one lives forever. Soon enough their pain is lost to the wind.

Everyone is different, which means that everyone's story is different. When you meet your soulmate, it's an unspoken rule that you go with them. Everything you have at home; family, friends, home. Forgotten. You leave that all behind. It is symbolised as a new life but it's devastating for the parents. They live in constant fear of their child going out and never coming back.

Not all soulmates get married, although a lot do as they get so close. Many are just best friends. None hated each other though. No, I had to go and be the first.

I was one of the last to meet my soulmate. She changed my life forever.
