Charles followed Sebastian as Sebastian gave him a quick tour of the mansion. As the tall butler droned on, Charles made a mental map in order to not lose himself.

"And this-" Sebastian stopped in front of a room and opened its door. "Is your room. It is best that you stay close to the young mistress." Charles nodded. "Yes, sir."

"Well, I bid you goodnight, Mr. Lee." Sebastian then walked away, the candlelight dimming the further he walked. Charles shivered and walked into his new room.

It was a modest room, not that he would complain. If he had stayed unemployed, he would have stayed in some dingy rathole. Or his shitty battle tent, sleeping to the sound of distant gunshots and cannons. This room had the basic commodities. Bed, wardrobe, and washroom.

The room was small and tidy. It had a medium sized bed and a wardrobe. He opened the wardrobe and saw various men's uniforms in it but he placed his own clothing there. The uniforms were required during the weekdays but he was allowed to wear his leisure clothes during the weekend. Charles took off his clothes, put them in a hamper and switched into his night attire.

Then, came the bed. He didn't realize how tired he had been until he looked laid down. Even for a staff bed, it was quite remarkable. He smiled softly as he felt himself drift off to sleep.

Good Morning!

"Good morning, Mr. Lee."

Charles opened his eyes to see Sebastian smiling down at him. He gasped and fell off the bed in an attempt to scoot off. "Good morning, Sebastian", he said gruffly as he rubbed his shoulder. "How are you?"

"I'm fine, but you should be getting ready. The L/Ns are bound to wake up in an hour. Please meet me in the kitchen after you clean up." Sebastian left as swiftly as he came, leaving Charles to his devices.

Charles was quick to clean up. He had to be in the war, or else some Redcoat would catch him with his pants. Not only that, but his father always stressed that a man's appearance is only half of what people think of said man. He bathed quickly and changed into his uniform.

After remembering his mental map, Charles found Sebastian in the kitchen. "Hello." He saw only two maids walking back and forth with the dishes.

"Hello, Mr. Lee." Sebastian smiled as he turned around and nodded to a plate on the counter. "That is your breakfast. A L/N servant cannot function properly without a healthy breakfast. Especially when they're watching over the heiress."

Lee gulped as Sebastian's serious tone betrayed his smile. "Understood. Thank you, Sebastian." He then ate his breakfast and washed his plate. "What now?"

"We wait for the L/Ns to finish their breakfast. You will escort the young mistress to her tutor over in the dayroom. After that, she has leisure time. Just keep an eye on her." Sebastian said as he finished cooking the last dish. Charles nodded.

"Understood, sir."

The Day Begins!

After the L/Ns finished their breakfast, they dispersed. F/N had to go to his office in town. M/N had to attend a lady's group. This left Y/N and her tutor. Except that Charles was escorting her.

"How was your morning, Miss?" Charles asked as he carried her books. Y/N smiled softly as she looked at Lee. "It was alright, thank you. Just the usual."

Charles nodded and walked into the day room with Y/N. "So, what will you do?" Y/N looked at Charles as he sat by the window. The former general smiled softly as he fiddled with one of her books. "Well, I'm just here to keep you safe, you know?" Y/N grinned. "You're doing a good job, then."

Finally, the tutor came in and began the lesson. Charles listened and read the book in his hands, constantly looking up to check on Y/N.

Timeskip

The lesson was over before Charles even knew it. He had eavesdropped on the lesson occasionally and always heard Y/N answer correctly. "You're quite bright, Miss." Charles said as he helped her with her books.

Y/N smiled and bowed her head. "Thank you, Mr. Lee." Charles looked at her books. "I've read these before. They're good." Y/N smiled as she took a F/C covered book. "This is my favorite book. It's my journal. I want to write my own story. I don't want a usual damsel in distress thing. I want to enjoy my independence while I can. I'll make my story great."

They continued to talk about idle and somewhat meaningful things as they made their way to the stables. Charles didn't know what to think of the young mistress. She was sweet, beautiful, and kind hearted but she was nothing like the other women he met. They were all quiet, shy, tame, and being from a higher position, uppity as hell.

A loud neigh broke his thoughts. He looked over to see Y/N dashing off in her horse. Charles paled and went after her in another horse. Y/N laughed as she felt the wind through her hair and as she glanced to see Charles close by.

However, the heiress was caught off guard as her horse reached an obstacle and got on its hind legs. Y/N fell off and saw as how she'd be stomped by one of the horse's hooves if she didn't move. But she didn't move. She was in shock. All she could do was scream.

Just as she saw the horse's leg go down in slow motion, she shut her eyes for the incoming pain. But it never came. She opened her eyes and saw Charles Lee with an around her torso. He sat her down on the saddle of his horse and walked to her horse.

Charles approached the horse slowly and mounted it swiftly. He looked at Y/N. "Are you alright? Is he normally this rowdy?" Y/N shrugged as dusted off her dress. "He's a free spirit. That's why I like him." Charles smiled softly. "Let's get you home, Miss."
