Charles' heart skipped several beats once Sebastian told him he knew of his relationship with Y/N. His legs felt as if they were being weighed down with lead. He felt light headed but mostly, he felt afraid.

What would Sebastian do? Would he tell Y/N's father? What would Charles do? What would happen to Y/N? All these questions whirled around in his head, muddling his thoughts.

"Sebastian, pray tell, do you plan on telling her father?" Y/N's father finding out was Charles' main concern; the second being keeping Y/N's reputation untarnished. Obviously, keeping a roof over his head and food on his plate was another huge concern but he had already saved enough money in case his employment ceased.

Sebastian nearly laughed in Charles' face. "Think of me what you will, but a double-crosser, I am not." He rolled his eyes as if brushing off the silly thought of snitching on the two lovers. Sebastian smirked at Charles' foolishness. "I won't inform the Master of your relationship with Miss Y/N, but I trust you'll do your part in caring for her. Not to mention, if your intentions with her are beyond lust, then I suggest you rise above your station. I highly doubt Master L/N will allow his daughter and only heir to marry below her status." His smug smirk was gone from his face and had been replaced with a more serious frown. "Well, that's all. I'll wait for you in the carriage. Please make haste; we can't be too far from the L/N's." With that, he left Charles and went to the staff carriage.

Yes, Y/N was a lovely girl and yes, Charles did care for her dearly but marriage never crossed his mind. Not because he didn't want to but because he thought they were too young and he was so confident in their relationship he forgot they were on borrowed time. He forgot that Y/N wasn't getting any younger and it was natural to see young ladies her age get married to the first proper suitor her parents can find.

There was no doubt in Charles' mind that Y/N would dismiss as many suitors as she could if she truly cared for him as he cared for her. A tiny shred of doubt exploded in his mind as he considered the possibility of Y/N seeing Charles as a mere cheap thrill and leaving him as soon as she's betrothed to some other wealthy, popular man.

He'd have to talk to Y/N as soon as possible.
