"Ello, doll!"

"That perfume smells expensive..."

"What's a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Charles looked down at Y/N as different men would catcall her. Still, she held her head up high and continued walking. He stood close by and just made sure no one came near her. "We could always go back to the manor, Miss."

"I'll be okay, Mr. Lee." She flashed a small smile. Unsure, to say the least, but it was a smile. He nodded and sent dirty glares at the men behind them. "Scumbags", he muttered.

As if on cue, a tall young man made his way up to Y/N, completely disregarding Charles. "Hello, love. How are you? My name's Edward and yours is?" He smiled and walked beside her. "Hello. My name is Y/N. I'd say I'm fine. And you?" She smiled back. Charles glared at the intruder as he listened to their conversation.

'As long as he doesn't lay a finger on her', thought Charles.

The stranger gently pushed Y/N into an alley despite her calm protests. He had a hand on her corseted waist. Charles stomped up to him. "Don't touch her."

Edward chuckled and looked back at Charles. "Piss off." He smirked. Charles tore Edward's hand from the young mistress' waist. He landed a couple of heavy blows until Y/N intervened.

"Charles, stop! We have to leave!" She grabbed his hand and casually made her way out of the alley. "Act natural", Y/N whispered as she held his hand. Charles still had that angry look on his face. "Do you still want a downtown man?" He looked down at her. She glanced at him and pouted. "Shut up."

"Honestly, Miss Y/N, you must have the worst taste in men. Could you do worse?" Charles scolded the girl as if she were a child. Y/N pouted and looked away. "Well, I haven't dated you." Charles was gaping at the girl. He was completely and utterly speechless.

Y/N looked at Charles and laughed. "Victory for Y/N!" She cheered. Charles blushed at his humiliation. "Shut up. I'd give beautiful children anyway." He flashed a cocky grin and winked at her. Y/N's cheery face turned bright red. "Victory for Lee." He grinned.

Y/N laughed softly. She smacked his arm lightly and shook her head. "You know, women have a sixth sense. Your wife will know you said that." Charles shrugged. "Let her know. I don't have one anyway."

The young heiress 'hm'ed and nodded. "Then, court me." She looked at him with that bright smile of hers along with her twinkling eyes. Charles blushed bright red. "Miss, that's not very funny. You have to marry a man of wealth and stat-" Once again, he got cut off.

"Mr. Lee, when I know what I want, then I know. Plus, what have you to lose with me?" Y/N asked with a pout. "My job." Charles retorted. "I'll m make sure my dad doesn't fire you, I promise!" She held his hand. Charles scoffed. "We don't even love each other."

Charles looked at Y/N sit in her seat, looking defeated. He felt a tug in his heart as he saw her genuinely sad. Deep melancholy eyes that actually made him feel guilty for a deed he hadn't committed and her soft, pink lips that were barely pulled down by her thoughtful expression.

"Why me?" He asked softly. She looked up and stared at him for a while. "I'm not sure. Is there something wrong with me?" Charles shook his head. "Not at all. In my opinion, you're quite beautiful. Not only that, but you're intelligent, kind, calm, and different." Y/N smiled as he complimented her.

"I think you're rather handsome. You're also brave, well-mannered, funny, and you're not some hoity-toity big wig. I like that." Y/N smiled before kissing his cheek. Charles' face heated up after that. He quickly looked away from the girl. "Your parents will not approve."

Y/N glanced at him with the utmost seriousness. "They don't have to know."
