Re-writing Destiny

III

She woke up with a start, she heard faint, muffled voices outside the hut. She sat up, feeling her head throb, her throat parched.

She's wearing Benjie's shirt over her panties!!! Wala rin syang bra!!! She looked around in panic, she found her shorts and quickly donned it. She found her bra neatly folded on top of her bag. Then the door of the hut opened to reveal Benjie. She turned, quickly hiding her bra behind her.

"Good morning, gising ka na pala! Ito oh, inom ka muna ng tubig, nagpabili ako. Tapos magbihis ka, punta tayo sa may tindahan para makapag breakfast tayo habang pinapalitan ng battery ang kotse."

"Ok."

"Ok ka lang ba? Masakit ba ulo mo?"

"Medyo."

"Bili tayo ng gamot on our way to the resort."

They were both avoiding looking directly at each other. What happened the night before is set aside. Sinag put her hair up in a messy bun, she used the remaining water to wash her face.

"Doon na tayo sa resort maligo. I called ahead to ready lolo's villa. Tara, kain na muna tayo."

They trekked to the direction of the sari-sari store where they are having breakfast. Sinag kept on trailing behind Benjie so he held her hand, lacing his fingers to hers as they walked.

They ate in silence, the store owner made small talk, Benjie told her what happened and she implied that their parents must think they eloped. Sinag looked at Benjie, concern clouding her eyes.

"Nakatawag na po ako sa mama ko, Aling Susan, alam po nila nasiraan lang kami."

"Naku! Noong panahon namin yan ang pinaka sikat na rason pero yun pala, nagtanan na or may nangyari na."

Both Benjie and Sinag coughed at the same time. They were both uncomfortable when Aling Susan unintentionally mentioned the elephant in the room.

They finished their breakfast, while Benjie paid the bill, Sinag checked her phone to call her family but her phone is dead. As they were walking back to the car..

"Benjie, pahiram naman ng phone mo, dead batt na ako, tawagan ko lang si Nanay."

"Pinatawag ko na kay mama, sinabi ko na wag silang mag-alala, na di naman kita papabayaan. Pero, yeah, I think better na maka usap mo sila." Handing her his phone.

Sinag spoke to her nanay and assured her she's okay and will be home by afternoon. Benjie drove to the resort while she napped. Feeling really tired after she took the pain reliever Benjie gave her for her headache.

He parked right in front of his family's villa. A two story modern structure with glass windows all around. Benjie ushered her inside. He showed her the room where she can bathe and change.

Sinag quickly went to the bathroom to take a bath. Nanlalagkit na pakiramdam nya and she closed her eyes as soon as the cool water hit her. Instantly, her mind is flooded by visions of what transpired the night before. She swayed and leaned a hand on the tiled wall for support, groaning in protest. She calmed herself and quickly finished bathing.

She wrapped her dripping hair in a towel and another on her body as she went to brush her teeth. She stared in the mirror, looking at herself curiously. Parang may nagbago, ba't ganyan itsura ng mga mata nya? Then she covered her mouth as she gasped!
