IV

Sinag insisted Benjie drop her off somewhere so she can take a cab home. He was adamant to take her directly to her home since it's getting dark.

"Benjie, seriously! Maaga pa, and sanay akong mag commute."

She's getting agitated about everything that has happened in the last 24 hours or so. She feels the reality of the mess she is in setting in as soon as she realized she's going to face her family, answer their questions. Including Badong's and her Tatay.

"Eh andito na eh, ihahatid na lang kita ba't kelangan mo pang mag-taxi?"

"Kasi po maha-highblood ang tatay ko pag nakita ka. Baka nakalimutan mo na kinamumuhian ka ng tatay ko."

"Di naman ako bababa, Sinag, kahit sa kanto lang, please?"

"Hay jusko! Ang hirap mong kausap. Sige na nga!"

So he happily drove her home. Di na nagtanong si Sinag bakit alam ni Benjie papunta sa bahay nya. She's still deep in thought, everything is just so dreary and here's Benjie acting all protective. Ugh, sumasakit na naman ulo nya!

She gathered her things as Benjie stopped by the curb. She suddenly felt awkward because he's staring at her expectantly. She didn't want to look up and see his puppy-dog eyes in case she'll melt. Ugh, she hates goodbyes!

"Umm, thank you. See you around." She said and hurriedly opened the door to get out. His hand snaked out stopping her.

"Wait! When will I see you again?"

"Ha?"

"Di pa tayo nag usap tungkol sa ano.."

"Umm, tatawagan kita kung ready na ako.. bahala na, Benjie! Let me gather my thoughts muna, okay? Magulo pa isip ko."

"Ok, ok. Umm, eto phone ko, lagay mo number mo."

She just stared at his phone then at him. At a loss. She swallowed, not sure what to do.

"Sinag, please. Pano kita tatawagan?"

She's worried her Tatay will catch her with Benjie so she quickly put in her number and jumped out without saying goodbye.

Her family welcomed her warmly, she was her bubbly self as far as her family is concerned. Having spent time with Benjie and she comes back her normal self can only mean she is so over him. Thought her parents. They are not aware of the turmoil inside Sinag's mind.

Thankfully Badong is not home yet so she quickly excused herself to turn in early and avoid any further questions about Benjie & why she didn't even mention to Badong that her out of town trip was with Benjie. A girl can only take so much.

She does feel so tired, both physically and mentally. As she was about to sleep, she thought of texting Ninay to meet with her tomorrow. She desperately needs to talk to her about everything.

"Sinag, si Benjie ito. I'm home and ready to sleep. I hope nakapagpahinga ka na and all is well at home. See you."

"NINAY, MAGKITA TAYO BUKAS, GAANO KA AGA MONG KAYA MAG-MEET??? PLS BESHIE! 911 THIS IS AN EMERGENCY & THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Text mo lang ako matutulog na ako. 'Night!"

Surprisingly, she slept deeply and woke up refreshed. Her puzzling dream consisted of the forest, the rain and a bedimpled hottie with soulful, begging eyes.

She met Ninay for breakfast near her office. Ninay raised her eyebrows at the scarf around her neck in this heat.

"Kumusta ang honeymoon, beshie?" She snickered.
