"Sammy?" Dean looked at his little brother, usually a happy, floppy moose. Not now, though. Sam was crying, holding his knees to his chest and sitting on the bottom stair. Dean pushed Sam's hair back and confirmed his biggest fear to be true. He observed his little brothers face, looking at multiple bruises covering his left eye, nose, and forehead. Dean's apple green eyes scanned the caked blood under sam's nose and his nostrils flared. He was careful to not touch the belt marks on his little brother's back. Dean calmly picked Sam up without saying a word and put him in the Impala. If Sam didn't know any better he would have thought Dean was dead inside. He drove away, and after a few minutes of Sam's sniffles being the only sound in the car, Dean spoke up.
"Alright Sammy, tell me everything that happened. Everything." Dean spoke calmly. Sam described his time with their drunk dad, not going into detail on how he got the cuts and bruises. Dean winced at every word Sam spoke. He couldn't bare the though of his own flesh and blood hitting Sam like that.
"I'm gonna kill him, Sam. I'M GONNA KILL HIM!" Dean punched Baby's steering wheel and cursed.
"Don't kill him, Dean." Sam pleaded
"Well, what I do know is I'm going to get us out of here. Don't worry about him anymore, Sammy. You're safe with me, and I'm gonna find a way to get us out of here. We're leaving."
"What about Cas? You can't leave him." Sam said.
"How do you kn-" Dean was cut off.
"Gabriel told me." Sam explained. Dean sighed. Goddammit Gabe.
"Alright, I trust you to not tell dad. He would be so pissed."
"I won't tell, Dean. Don't worry." Dean pulled into a corner store and walked in angrily. After a few minutes, he walked out with an ice cold coke bottle. He gave it to Sam and told him to put it wherever it hurt. The youngest Winchester put the bottle up to his forehead, wincing at the condensation getting into his cut.
"Why don't we stay in a motel for a few days while dad is staying at the house?" Dean asked.
Sam replied, "I mean I-I guess that could work, but wouldn't that be wasting money we could save?"
"True. Any other ideas?"
"Not really. Maybe we could just wait it out. We could stay in our rooms while he's here and sleep at friend's houses, and soon enough he'll be back on another hunting trip."
"That'll have to do for now." The reality was still setting in for Dean. His dad had hit Sam while he was away. Dean couldn't leave his little brother alone with their dad anymore. He had to watch out for Sammy.~
Cas was fed up with the constant yelling ringing in his ear. Bobby was trying to calm down his mom, but that didn't do anything. Cas heard a sentence he had heard many times before.
"He was a mistake! I shouldn't have ever had him! How could a human being love a piece of shit like that!?" Cas winced at the pain in the words. Did he really cause someone so much stress? After a pause, he heard Bobby yell back.
"Children aren't supposed to be sorry! They're supposed to eat your food and break your heart! To hell with you!" He heard his mom storm out and curse loudly. Maybe she was leaving. Cas couldn't take it. He didn't even think about going downstairs to get to the truck he got for his 16th birthday. Instead, he climbed out his window and onto the roof. He gently lowered himself down and placed his foot on the top of the railing on his porch. He slithered down and eventually jumped down onto the grass. Success. Cas got in his car and texted Dean.To Dean: Hang? Gotta clear my mind.
Almost instantly he got a reply.
From Dean: Same here. DQ in 10? Sam is coming- I'll explain later.
To Dean: Okie dokie.
