"Dad's gone, Cas gets out of the hospital today, and Sammy is healing up well. Things are kinda okay." Dean said into his phone.
"That's great to hear, Dean. How is Cas doing?" Charlie asked from the other side of the line. She left for California to visit her grandparents about a week ago.
"He's okay I guess. Bobby and Rufus are keeping Cas' mom away from him."
"Good good. That bitch can go die for all I care." Charlie spat out.
"I agree. I'll keep you updated. Sorry you can't be here for him."
"Thanks. I'm trying. We'll talk later, I have to snap some necks and write some checks. Take care of yourself, Dean. Bye." The line went dead. Dean walked back into the hospital and made his way to Cas' room. The teens talked for a while, catching up on what happened while Cas was out. The Winchester went silent after reminding Cas where Charlie was.
"You have to promise to never do that again. I couldn't live with myself if you weren't here with me."
"Dean, I'm so sorry. I was being really selfish and I didn't think about the consequences. I'm sorry."

Dean sipped from a frosty can of soda. He peered out into the deep, infinite navy blue the sky had turned into. In an instant, his foggy breath rose up around him and disappeared into the night. The Winchester nuzzled deeper into his coat as he focused on a cat slinking under a street light. He looked behind him and saw his window. The thought of Sam ran across his mind, so he went to go check on his little brother. After he was confident Sam was okay, the older Winchester once again hopped out his window and stood on his roof. He texted Cas. then pocketed his phone.

Coming over. Watch your window.

It buzzed not long after. The brightness of his phone shone on his face, highlighting emerald green eyes as they darted across the words on the screen.

I guess our lives are basically a Matchbox Twenty song. Have you checked the time?

Dean responded quickly.

Very clever. 3am happens to be the only song I'll listen to past the 90's.

Even though it was late, he knew Cas would be up. He gets around 5 hours if he's lucky. Dean took a moment to soak in his surroundings before hopping back in his room and closing the window, hoping to not wake Sam.
The Winchester tapped along to Credence Clearwater Revival on the steering wheel. He opened his windows, letting the peaceful night air in. After 5 minutes had passed, he spotted a person -that Dean just so happened to recognize- walking along the sidewalk. The older Winchester pulled over.
"What are you doing out here, Gabe?" Gabe almost choked on his lung.
"Dean? Jesus, you scared me. I, uh-"
"Let me guess. Going to see Sam?" Gabe's face flushed and he nodded. Dean laughed his ass off.
"Respect, man. Respect." Dean offered to take him the rest of the way.
"Well, don't just stand there. Hop in, I got time."

The sandy haired boy climbed on the railing of Cas' porch and pulled himself up on to the roof of the Singer's house. He quietly shuffled over to Cas' window and gave a light knock. Within seconds, a small hand pulled the window up allowing Dean to hop in. Cas donned sweatpants that looked mad comfortable and an AC/DC t-shirt. Dean laughed when he saw his boyfriend with a ridiculous grin on his face. The taller boy shut the window behind him as he entered. Cas turned on his laptop and motioned for Dean to lay next to him on the bed. Dean snuggled into Cas, the familiar lavender smell filling his lungs with joy.
"What movie are we watching?" Dean asked, voice husky and rough.
"How about throwin' it back?" Cas suggested.
"I like the sound of that. You can choose, I picked last time."
"Star Trek it is." Cas giggled and pulled it up. Electric blue eyes caught Dean's attention, causing him to stare. Cas looked over and gave a soft smile. It felt as if Dean's soul was wrapping around the boy, creating a soft barrier between the cold harsh world and the warm cocoon of Dean. Dean didn't really watch the movie, he just turned his head towards the screen so it looked like he was watching from Cas' perspective. Secretly, the Winchester watched his boyfriend's eyelashes move when he blinked. He watched the way his nose crinkled subconsciously when he laughed. He watched the colorful eyes dart around the screen in amazement, soaking in images and colors. He watched every detail carefully, the light dancing across the boy's face, making sure he remembered all of the little things that meant the world to the Winchester.
"You do know Gabe is over with Sam right now, right?"
"I'm the one who let him sneak out my window. His doesn't have any roof under it." The teens softly chuckled.
Cas glanced over and noticed Dean staring. He leaned over and slowly kissed the boy he loved. Dean nuzzled his face into Cas' chest, blinking rapidly at the annoying sleepiness stuck in his eyes. Before he could register it, Dean was drifting off to sleep with the help of the rhythm of Cas' heartbeat against his ear.
