The tributes were just dazzling when they arrived at the Capitol and rode their chariots for the tribute parade. The crowd went wild as the twenty-four tributes waved at their audience. You could see in each one's eyes that some were excited to be here and some were quite the opposite.
After a few days of hard-core training, the tributes received their scores. The streets that night were buzzing about who they wanted to sponsor and who they thought would win. When interviews came around, all the girls wore gorgeous dresses and the boys stunning suits.
Even though that the one point before the games may as well have been the best few days of many of the tributes lives--it all must come to an end.
Round one prompt:
In a small town, at the end of an empty street, was an abandoned orphanage that housed four siblings. The oldest was Elliot, and he was in charge of the group--always looking out for them and making sure they all had enough to eat. Rose and Jasmine were identical twins, and little Oliver was the youngest of the bunch. Oliver was only seven when it happened.
In the dead of night, the children awake to find their youngest brother missing. All they find is the window open--the moth bitten curtains fluttering in the cool, night breeze--and three drops of blood on the windowsill. Write what comes next and what happens to Oliver.
For those who have entered twice... for your first entry do this one, and for your second entry do the same prompt but from Jasmine's point of view.
Remember, the entry must be between 500 and 1000 (you may go over just a bit if you need to). It is due March 20th before midnight on the 21th. Anybody who doesn't hand in their entries by the deadline will be disqualified.
Good luck to everyone!
