My mind went completely blank.
I couldn't stop looking at him. He was tall, dirty blonde, and well built. His eyes were blue. His clothes were casual...but expensive. He definitely invested a lot of money on his appearance. As he got closer, I could see that he took care of his skin well. There were no imperfections.
He wasn't like any other guys in the classroom. He was attractively handsome. The girls would take a glance at him. Looking at his eyes, I could feel myself drown in them. Next thing I knew, an unexpected thought came into my mind.
They look... familiar....
Soon, the guy took the seat next to me and looked at Alex. "Ready for the class?" the guy asked him. "You bet," Alex answered with a smile. The guy gave him a smile in return and a nod. "By the way, this is Anna who I talked to you about," Alex said and gestured his hand towards me.
The guy looked at me with a smile and gave his hand out to me. "Nathan Berkshire," he introduced himself to me. I shook his hand. His hand his soft...wait...what am I thinking?! "Um...Anna Griffiths," I introduced myself in return shyly.
I never really made friends in school. When I started to attend SF State, it wasn't too bad because I had to talk to my roommates and classmates about projects and stuff. Still, I never made true friends except for Alex. Alex would get me to talk to him. It took a good year to know him and realize that he was my best and only friend.
Nathan kept his smile on his face. "Nice to meet you. Alex told me much about you," he said. How much....
"He told me a bit about you," I said to him.
"Like what?" he asked curiously. "Alex said that you are an exchange student from England," I told him. "Yes. I'm here to study political science," he confirmed. "Why? I would think that you could study political science back in England, I said to him.
"I could but, I wanted to see how it's taught in another country," he explained simply.
That makes sense.
Soon, the professor walked into the room and set his bag onto the desk. He set up his laptop for a powerpoint presentation. The Professor about the same height as me with grey hair on the sides of his head while the top was bald. Also, he wore clothes that was somewhat fitting for a professor....a suit.
We paid attention to the front.
"Good morning class," Professor said and wrote his name on the board. "Good morning," we said in unison. The Professor finished writing his name and faced us. "I am Professor Carlisle Bartholomew. Welcome to Genealogy: Family History. I'll be sending out a piece of paper for you to write your name so that it can tell me who is in the class. Anyone who is wanting to be added, please sign your name anyways. Usually, students start to drop the class if they find the class too difficult," he said and gave a piece of paper to the the student closest to the door.
Next, he passed the syllabuses to us. I looked at the syllabus. We went over different sections of the syllabus.
HIST XXX is a study of Family History or more specifically known, Genealogy. Our past teaches us lessons to either follow or avoid. Your family history makes up who you are as a person and your place in history. Knowing your family, you will be able to understand more about yourself and your family in relation to history.
We will research our own family trail through our electronic sources such as Ancestry.com as well as through paper documents. Throughout the semester, we will be able to find out information on our family to understand ourselves as a person.
