Quote of the Chapter: "Friendship is so weird... you just pick a human you've met and your like "yep this is the one" and you just do stuff with them."

Monday, February 13th came in a rush. The first day of my 12th grade year has come. Again.

Looking at my schedule, it says I have locker 598. All lockers down the first floor were lockers conatining numerals of 1-400's. Great. I have to go up a flight of stairs this year.

Walking up the steps, a group of girls ran past me bumping roughly into my shoulders.

Rude.

A tall skinny red head with a flower crown stopped directly in front of me, almost making me fall forward onto her. Thank God for my amazing reflexes. And stair railings.

Fire hair said, "I feel like I haven't seen you around school before. Did you always go to Swearpoint?" She started sniffing my hair.

"You are new, yet don't use natural products. Thought I would like you."

This sparked the attention of a short blond girl who was waiting impatiently next to her. She started narrowing her brown eyes, analying me.

"Yeah," I said to the hippie awkwardly while scratching the my head. I can still feel her eyeing me. "This is my first day here and I am trying to find my locker."

Blondie raised and eyebrow and spoke. "What number?"

"598. Do you three happen to know where that is, by any chance?"

"We'll show you," The girls complied in unison with different amounts of excitement.

Walking down this new hall, I noticed all of these classes were AP ones.
Is Gabi in all honors classes? Her locker is supposedly close to mine, according to my uncle.

I was in some, but not all. I guess I need to stop thinking less of her. She'll keep surprising me at some point.

"Here we are," said the last girl who had on little round glasses that made her face look rounder. "Locker 598. Enjoy the school." A huge smile spread across her face.

A perky one I see.

They started walking away, the tiny blond girl continuing to glance back at me.

"Oh how rude we are!" Glasses said running. Fire hair and blondie came walking back as well.

"My name is Shelby! The one with the red curls is Bridget and the blonde one with the bun beside me is Gabi. It's nice to meet you, what's your name?"

Gabi! How could I forget Gabi, for a second time! I almost killed her the first.

It could be because of the hair change. Last time I saw her it was styled with luscious curls all the way down to her shoulders, now it was straight and put into a messy bun.

"My name is J- I mean Sebastian! Sebastian Smith. It's nice to meet you three as well." My reflexes may be great, but my memory suffers.

I almost blew my cover on the first day. The first 5 minutes of being a student. That can not happen again.  "Thanks guys. Or should I say girls."

The furious, bell began to chirp. Ahh, memories.

Gabi came in step with me and told her friends, "I'll catch up to you guys later. I want introduce myself a bit more."

"Don't scare him off," Shelby whispered through gritted teeth.

"No promises," Gabi replied.

Gabi remembered me and wanted to say hi! Or maybe she wants to kill me because I never told her my name before. Or, she wants to kick me in my area for running into her. Or maybe, she found out about my secret. Or maybe-.

"You alright man? I just was gonna ask if I've seen you a few days ago. I presume I have, correct."

Should I tell her no, couldn't have been me? That she made a mistake?
I didn't want to lie her though. Even if it is part of my job.

I opened my mouth to speak but she yelled, "Aha!!! I recognize you now! From the boardwalk on Myrtle fucking Beach. You told me you were going to start at Swearpoint today. Right?"

"Yeah that was me. Sorry, I nearly killed you the other day. Need to watch were I'm going better."

"Well I'm glad you admitted it before I said anything." We both chuckled at that. Her laugh was calming, unlike how tough she seemed a minute ago.

Could her arrogant ego just come off that way. Is she truly just shy until she opens up?

"What do you keep thinking about man? Your brain is going to explode one day."

I looked down at her. "How did you know I was- "

"You were biting you lip. Duh. You did that the other day too."

"Well," don't expose anything yourself James, "I was remembering on the boardwalk how, I thought you said today was your 18th birthday. So if it is, happy birthday!"

"Thanks! You remembered." I swear I saw her lightly blush.

She smiled as the bell rang again. "Gabi right?"

"Yeah."

"Gabi, does the second bell mean I am late for homeroom?"

"Sure does." Why was she still smiling?

"Don't worry chump. You'll be fine. I am always late. Besides, you have nothing do worry your pretty boy body over. Newbs always get freebies the first days they arrive here. To get used to all the bell changes and time swtiches between classes and- "

"Ok," I hate that I interrupted her, but I didn't want to start getting the rep she has. "I guess we should get to homeroom then."

"Fiiiiiine. You bitch," she sighed.

Gabi rolled her eyes and began walking with me. She walked to the doorway of Room 225, which was apparently mine too because we had the same agendas.

"Your class too! You just saved my ass!!! I can get an excuse for being late because I, 'showed you around the school.'" She air quoted this with her fingers.

Opening the door the teacher didn't even have to look at who just stepped inside. "You are late Miss Mon- " The teacher paused when she saw me strut in after Gabi. "Oh, what do we have here? A new student."

Yes! She stuck to the plan exactly. Nice job Mrs.Gibson, a.k.a. homeroom and AP Spanish teacher.

"Yup. Mrs. Gibson, I was showing Sebastian around the school. Sorry I'm late."

Getting to know Gabi was going to be fun, but I couldn't let that get in the way of my mission to turn this female delinquent around, while becoming her friend.
