Quote of the Chapter: "I can normally tell how intelligent a man is by how stupid he thinks I am."

"What's wrong with you? You got all pop-eyed for some reason." Gabi puffed out her chest. "Why? You don't think I'm tough enough? Is that it. Or is it because I'm small!? Are you going to ask, 'Hey, how's the weather down there?' Huh, whatever your name is."

I couldn't say a word. I was too petrified to. One wrong thing and she will split me in two. Most likely.

Without me saying anything she continued on, "I can get a detention and have you watch front and center Monday. Since you clearly don't believe me."

"Uh . . ."

"Boys, such idiots," she grumbled.

She's standing her ground, proving her self worth, I kind of like the passion in her. Gabi's dedicated, but to the wrong things.

Refering back to what my uncle said, she can't get a suspension. Not on my watch. I am setting a higher goal for myself. Gabi will not be receiving a detention either.

I'm going to turn this child golden.

"I believe, all of what you just said," I stuttered, still shaken up. "I also wasn't going to ask any of that, and I don't want you getting in trouble by willingly proving yourself at school next week. Maybe instead you should-" My phone started ringing giving me the perfect escape out of this awkwardness.

"I have to take this, but I'll see you at school. What's your name again." I needed to make sure.

"My name is Gabi. Gabi Mon-" Her phone started ringing too. Weird.

"Gabi Monistant. You can tell me yours later, you weirdo. Now, bye." Not giving me a chance to respond, she sped away and winked. A girl player, that's new.

I answered my phone to a shouting fellow officer. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!"

"Hello to you too man." I started up my stroll again. "I was walking along the boardwalk peacefully trying to tan. Absolutely killin' my new look by the way. Why? Is there something wrong today Officer Nixon?"

I rolled my eyes glad he wasn't standing in front of me. This man is rude towards me. Is it because I'm young? Inexperienced?

Officer Nixon: A 45 year old man who has the rage of a lion who just lost his meal. 24/7.

I sat on a bench watching Gabi meet up with the guy in front of me. Perhaps they are boyfriend and girlfriend?

"Yes! Something is very wrong!! You just let that girl and guy walk away with all that money in her pocket!"

"What!?" I sat up straight. Shit. I could be in deep shit.

"Yes boy!" His Australian accent was getting on my nerves, and I love Aussies.

"She had over $10,000 dollars in that backpack and so did he! Plus they were both armed."

"Ok, ok, calm down. I'm sorry, I admit I messed up, but it's not like I can handcuff her now."

"How come?" Goodness. This nut job. Just let me walk around the beach without you nagging me about things out of my control.

"Because she just spoke to me and I told her I go to her school because I'm undercover, uncovering her if that makes sense."

"And?"

Is the guy completely clueless?

"And she will recognize my face. I just spoke with her. Plus I'm in swim trunks, not in suit."

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh." I wasn't going to let him off this easy. This man just busted my eardrums.

"One, you should know my off day is Saturday. Two, if I wasn't answering the walkie talkie or my phone, call someone else. Obviously I'm not equipped!"

"There is no such thing as a day off. You are an officer for crying out loud!" He retorted back at me. I hate when people do that.

"Well, here's an idea, there are other officers that I bet would love to take more calls, instead of you bugging me all of the time." He gupled. "In fact, how about you take it Nixon! Go and catch them."

He fell silent.

"Fine! But you were the closest on foot, so if we don't catch them by car, it's all your fault James!" Officer Nixon hung up before I can spew words back at him.

Great. I am most likely to be blamed for a robbery I had no control over by Commissioner Jones.
