Quote of the Chapter: "A little party never hurt nobody."
Tonight was Friday, the great, annual, "Party Night."
It was the last day of my second week back to school. I started hanging out with Gabi and her friends. I mean, I did have every class with her, so I was pretty much required too.
So far I know most of her original friends names, (Henry, Shelby, Bridget, Hudson and some others I forgot). Every random day someone new joins the clique, then another leaves.
Am I that handsome? Do people usually fall for the new kid?
"Guess what tonight is?" Gabi told me slapping my arm at the table.
"What?" I asked pretending to be absolutely clueless.
"Well after a couple of months, on a Friday night there is a huge party. Literally, the whole school goes. So, since you go here now. . ."
"You want me to go."
"That's right." As she said this she inched closer to me.
I was getting a bit nervous, my head being occupied by embarrassing thoughts of me saying something rediculous. Let's just say girls aren't my strong point, even though I try to act like they are.
"So you down," she asked after noticing I was taking forever to think about my final response determining whether or not I was going to go.
"Why not, what's the worse that could happen from going to a fun party?" School was fun, parties are better.
"Yes!!! Listen up everyone!"
Gabi got everybody's attention, their heads snapping toward her powerful, demanding voice. "Sebastian is coming to the huge party tonight with us. We have to demonstrate how lit parties should be compared to the lame ones at his old school. No offense."
"None taken."
I laughed so hard inside at that. If they ever found out the called their own parties lame . . .
Gabi winked at me and I smiled, hopefully glad that I was coming and not making fun of me with that joke directed at pretty much both of us, which is what I was truly smiling at.
I turned my head back in the direction of everyone ahead of Gabi, (I was at the edge of the rectangular table), and saw the slightest glance of a scowl from Hudson.
Did those two have a past before? Did he think I was taking his spot?
No, I would never. I'm just a cop.
Forcing me to get out of my head Henry said, "Sebastian. Wait, hold on." Henry got up from his seat and made his way in between Gabi and I on the tiny edge of the bench.
"Hey!" Gabi yelled. "Whatever. Talk later Sebastian." She got up to sit next to Hudson.
I rebounded the conversation Henry started. "Sup Henry."
"Sup man." Hen gave me a head nod. such a nerd.
"All I wanted to let you know was that the party is going to be- " He stopped for an unknown reason.
"All these damn teachers walking by are getting on my nerves. I'm sorry. Where was I?"
"You didn't even start yet."
"Right. It's just that if the teachers found out, they would cancel everything and forbid anymore gigantic parties like this." Henry paused again, but this time to eat a handful of my french fries.
"So, rumor has it, it is going to be at this rich kid Daniel and his sister's Rebecca and Ally's house. Give me your number so I can text you the address.
We exchanged numbers and he continued, "Your 19, you drink right, cause if not, you shouldn't go. Drinking is the majority of what we do there besides dancing and "The Wall" and a few other things. Sadly, not everyone does drink though. The wimps always chicken out."
Telling a cop that you drink underage and only wimps who are underage don't. I was fuming. Absolutly disgusted. I should've expected this misbehavior from friends of Gabi's.
But Henry? I asumed Henry was just the innocent math wiz, based on what Gabi texted me about him. I was obviously wrong about that.
Also, thinking, of course, I was going to have a blast on Friday, I would now have to keep an eye on all of my new friends the whole party. I still have two years before I drink, some of the students here 3, 4, 5 or 6+.
I am pretty pissed by what Henry just told me.
Not wanting to show my disappointment and seem like the infamous party pooper, killing the excited mood Henry was in, I simply said, "Sure." Leaving him to question if I would drink or not.
Thankfully he let the questions go not needing me to clarify anything.
"Well get ready to party then mi amigo. It is going to be a free-for-all."
"Cool. Who's cars are we all taking."
"I don't know. You'll have to ask Gabi on this one."
Gabi was clearly the ringleader over the whole group. No surprise there.
. . .
Walking into to 5th period I saw Gabi in the hall. "Gab what's up!"I have a nickname for her now, when did that start?
"Hey." She responded when we sat at our desks, I stole the seat next to her's.
"Three minutes to ask her before the bell rings," I muttered to myself.
Now speaking out louder I said, "Hello Gabi."
"Hello Sebastian." Smiling brightly at me she tilted her head wondering what I was getting at.
"I was just wondering about the, you know what later."
"What about it...can you not come?" She gave me a hurt expression. Eyebrows scrunching together, giving me a half smile instead if the large extended one she gave seconds ago.
"No, I can come, that's not it. I was just pondering if the gang all have cars to go in."
She flinched and hastily flickered her eyes downward at the word, "Gang."
This could be a big clue that she is in one. I have to keep that in mind.
"W- well." Stuttering after being startled, another clue.
"I know Henry is going in his car and taking Bridget and Shelby. Hudson is getting his car cleaned so he doesn't have one today, so yeah. Lilly, Preston, Nicole and Morgan are all going in Nicole's car." She paused. "Why do you ask? I can hook you, me and Hudson up with a ride if you want?"
"It's all good, I have a car. I can pick up you and Hudson tonight if that's alright with you and him."
I had another question. "Also what time does it start?"
"Whenever the fuck everyone gets there! That's how parties work my dude."
"Oh."
"You are really lucky you have me, you know that? I do not think you would have survived the rest of the year without me." She pat me on the back.
"Thanks, I guess..."
"Thank you." Her smile returned causing me to smile.
*Ring*
Tonight I was going to be the mama bear of the group, making sure nobody gets too, too drunk, does drugs and stupid things like that. I was going to "cop" a little, but I would still have a ton of fun.
Fingers crossed.
