“I’m a tiger and a necromancer.” That’s it. I told someone the secret that I swore never to tell to anyone.

“What do you mean when you say that you’re a tiger and necromancer?”

Shyly I looked down and played with my fingers. “I mean that I can turn into a tiger and that I can control some of the black arts.”

“I don’t believe you.” When those words left her lips I jumped up so fast that the chair I was sitting on fell to the floor with a bang. I was in shock.

“What do you mean you don’t believe me? I just told you the one thing I swore to never tell and you say I’m lying! How can I prove it to you?” I needed her to know and understand so that she could keep my secret.

“I want to turn into a tiger.” Her request was simple but it struck me with fear. I couldn’t refuse her because she was the queen but at the same time if I did follow her instructions they would come for me. So I did the only thing I could do.

“Fine I’ll show you. But stay back.” As she stepped back I felt that familiar vibration in my bones as I shifted. Just as it turned into a humming sensation a leaned forward and landed on my forepaws. My inner tiger was happy that I let her out.

I heard the queen gasp and I understood why. The first time I saw myself as a tiger it was pretty overwhelming. My striped fur gleamed in the sunlight. It looked soft and it practically invited my prey to come closer and look at my coat up close and maybe even touch it. That’s when I showed them why I was the predator and they were the prey.

The queen slowly crept closer so I let loose a growl warning her not to get too close. It’s been a while since I let my tiger out and she was restless. Who knows what she would do if she felt threatened.

I let her stare at me for a couple of more seconds before I shifted back. My tiger whined because of the short time she got but she knew that she would be free again soon enough. When I looked at the queen it looked like there were tears in her eyes, but as I blinked they were gone. Almost like they were never there.

“That was beautiful,” she whispered then she cleared her throat and begun to speak again. “Now show me your necromancer powers.”

“But-,” I began to protest.

“Now.” She said it in a voice that left no room for arguments. So I gathered up whatever courage I had and started a simple spell for darkness.

“Portare via l'oscurità che è accecato dalla luce. venite a me ombre e bask nella mia gloria e si prende parte della mia vita.” I chanted that over and over again as I slowly raised my arms and watched the shadows in the room come forth and encase the room in darkness.

“Stop,” the queen said. I could barely hear her over the slight whooshing of the shadows and the blood pumping in my ears. I barely noticed the energy it was taking from me. “Stop!” she yelled. Her yelling broke me out of my trance and I slowly lowered my arms and closed my eyes, feeling weak form that small spell.
