In the split second before the elevator would close, Harvey slid his muscular arm between the two doors causing them to open again. Inside the elevator Harvey turned to face Donna in an attempt to apologise for the situation she was put in at the mock trial.

"Donna I-"
"No Harvey! I came here today because once again I was doing something to protect you. Because you asked me to!"
"Donna I know that, but how was I meant to know Louis was going to pull some shit like that!"
"Well if I'd have known I wouldn't be here and we wouldn't be having this conversation!"
"I wish we weren't"
"Just like you wish I hadn't gotten rid of that memo right."
"Yes Donna! Because then you wouldn't be in this situation, it would be me! Then the woman that I..."
"The woman that you what? Woman that you what Harvey?!"
"Nothing, it doesn't matter."
"No it does matter Harvey!"
"Donna can we just forget it please?"
"No we can't Harvey. You may have forgotten it after the DA's office but I sure as hell didn't."

Donna came to realise the sensitivity of the topic they were discussing and how it affected their relationship to such an extent that they had both completely blocked it from their minds. Harvey pushed the stop button on the side of the elevator and turned to look Donna in the eyes.

"You think I forgot about that. I don't know if you remember but it was you who said we shouldn't talk about it again."
"If it was you on that stand, if Louis asked you, what would you have said?"
"That isn't fair and you know it"
"And it was for me"
"I would have told him that it didn't affect the way I did my job"
"That's just it Harvey it did for me. If it was anyone else, Louis or Jessica I wouldn't have done what I did but it was you! Every day I come to work and I see you and I just-"

Donna was completely cut off when Harvey's lips met hers and his arms wrapped around her waist. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she deepened the kiss, when they broke apart they were both gasping for air.

"I'm sorry Donna, I'm sorry"
"I know, me too"
