Chapter 5 : Leaving the Ruins

You wake up in a room you vaguely recognize. It seems familiar, yet you cant place it.
You sit up, and recognition hits you when you see the delicious looking pie on the floor of your room. It smells of butterscotch and cinnamon, but reminds you that you will have to leave this place in order to get home. You pick up your bag, with everything still in it, and grab the pie. You are shocked, because as soon as you touch it it disappears. You throw your hands up in frustration. But when they come back down, the pie appears again in front of you, with the regular undertale game statistics hovering over it. Well. At least you figured out the inventory. Now you just have to find one of those glowing stars.
You decide to leave the room and go search for everyone. You find them all standing by the door, the adults deep in conversation. McKenna is off to one side explaining everything to Jordan. When everyone sees you, they stop talking. You gather your DETERMINATION, and ask THE QUESTION.

" Hi Toriel. Um... How do we leave The Ruins?" She looks at you, flabbergasted. "Excuse me a monent, but I have to go do something." She says. She starts down the stairs to where you know the exit is. You wave everyone over and signal them to stealthily follow. Dad looks at you quizzicaly, but follows you. "Please go back" you hear Toriel say. " Asgore will kill you. ALL of you." You reply "But we - all of us - have a home on the surface." You and company arrive at the door. You know what's coming. And she says " Then prove to me, (Your Name) that you are strong enough to survive out there." Suddenly a barrier cuts you off from your family, trapping you with Toriel. The fight you knew was coming begins. You know you can win. You are DETERMINED to win. But without fighting. You refuse to gain any LOVE. You faintly hear your parents scream through the barrier as fireballs fly towards you. You successfully dodge most of them, but you scream in pain as Your watch reads 5HP. The buttons show up, and you hit spare for what feels like the million'th time. You finally see the fireballs start to flow around you, and know that you are almost free. A few minutes later, and you are crying as you embrace Toriel.

HER SOFT FUR FILLS YOU WITH DETERMINATION.

The barrier falls, and you and your family head to the door. You tell everyone to put on anything warm they might have, and you pull on a sweatshirt. They look at you, confused, but have begun to trust you. " Can I join you up front, (Your Name) ?" McKenna says. You can tell she is excited for what comes next. "Of course you can, McKenna." You reply. The two of you walk side by side, with your family behind you, into the snowy woods. (How weather happens down here, you could never figure out. The only reasonable answer is magic).
