Chapter 24 : Absorption

You and your company stand at the barrier, once again grappling for the souls. This time, hopefully, you would go umdesturbed. You give McKenna a look of DETERMINATION, and it seems to grant her confidence. Asgore is waiting for you, thankfully alive and unharmed. You realize that you all had left him, and felt bad. He gives you all a confused look. "Sans! How did you get all of these humans here?" He asks. You realize that he wouldn't remember, because of the reset. Sans starts his big spew about resets, Jordan, Chara, and your company. Asgore gasps and gives shocked expressions at the expected moments in the story. When resets are explained, he doesn't seem surprised. "Once I had a royal scientist who mentioned these things" Asgore says. Sans stiffens, but know one else reacts. You and McKenna, plus apparently Sans, all know who Gaster is. Or was. As Sans begins to ask the question, Asgore finishes for him. "And you need the souls to defeat Chara." Everyone looks around the room awkwardly, before you pipe up. "If your willing." He looks at you, debating. "Did I give you them... Uh... Last time?" He asks. You nod your head. He relaxes, surprisingly trusting. "Then I guess I am trusting my own judgement here." The souls begin to rise from the floor, but having seen them before, no one is as awed this time. Either way, the heart shaped puffs of colored substance are beautiful. You glance at McKenna again, as you have been frequently checking on her. She looks nervous again, but also looks ready. You shoot her an encouraging glance, and she looks back, PERSERVERENCE shining in her eyes. She steps up the the souls, and reaches towards the matching purple soul. Her hand closes around it, purple blinding light filling the room for a second. This repeats this for all 6 souls, cycling through the traits and colors. Once complete, she looks less different then you thought she would.
