(I do apologize for not updating, again, for a long time when I said I would. I won't say what, but somethings are bothering me at the moment and they are making it hard to write. I will continue to write, but if I don't update in a long amount of time, please know I haven't just dropped off the face of the earth. I will apologize in advance if and when I suddenly go quiet; something in my life is driving me crazy, and the person who is the cause, will remain unnamed. I hope this chapter makes up for my absence. Enjoy.)

-Five Hours Later-

My body crawled with cold, invisible fingers. I felt myself shake with tremors I couldn't control. I tilted my head back and took in a gulp of air for my lungs, shaking more as I tried to clear my body of this drug.

"I love you." Sonic whispered in my mind.

Yes. Yes, I love you too.

"I don't want anything to do with you."

No. Don't tell me that.

"You mean the world to me."

I know. You are more to me than that.

"You don't do anything right!"

I tried. I tried so hard for you.

"I just need space."

How much space can one need? You shut me out.

I couldn't breathe as I felt the drug curl around my mind. The words leaving my mouth like acid falling onto the floor. I was letting words of memories and twisted conception fall out by force. This drug was killing my heart, killing my mind. It was sending me on a spiral down into hell and Scourge was watching me with his cold, Sapphire eyes.

The frown on his face was clear as he raised a hand, slapping me across the cheek with an open palm. "Get up stripes! We are running out of time so stop mumbling nonsense and let's go!" He yelled, but, when I didn't move or even flinch, he knew he had to pick me up.

Scourge groaned loud and wrapped his fingers around my left arm, pulling me up to my weak knees and throwing me over his shoulder. Once I was secure he took off, weaving through tree's and ducking as far as he could go under the branches.

My body crawled with cold, invisible fingers that I now realized to be rain as it washed over us in a cold torrent. I only continued to shake as we came to a stop, the world around me a standstill as my cheek pressed firmly against thick green quills on an arched back.

Once Scourge was done mumbling to himself, he placed me down. My back pressed firmly against rough bark, my chin against my shoulder. Scourge sighed and kneeled down in front of me, his face now matted with blood and rain.

Our escape from the G.U.N. test facility was a risky one, and yet, we made it out alive but with many bullet holes to take account for. Scourge took most of the damage due to the fact that he had to drag me out, the drug still flowing through me.

"G.U.N. will be a grave yard when that bomb I planted ex-"

A shock ran through the ground underneath us, the trees around us shaking with the force. Behind Scourge, I could see the smoke cloud rise through the gaps between the leaves. The explosion rattled the air.

We looked at each other as the impact faded into a low rumble of raging fire. Scourge smirked and let out a loud cackle and I managed a lopsided grin.

He saw my grin and his cackle died into a low hum behind closed lips, his eyes not so dull. "Looks like you're getting feeling back stripes." Scourge grinned and looked down at himself "Good thing too. I don't think I will be following you out."

I followed his gaze, the blood quickly trickled down from the hole in his chest just next to his heart. I slowly pushed myself towards him, reaching towards his chest. Scourge shook his head and placed a hand over the wound, blood quickly moving to seep out through the cracks of his fingers.

"I...can help." I pushed out, looking up into dying sapphire eyes. His sick grin turned into a gentle smile. "Don't push your luck stripes, I got you out of there because someone put me on a mission. I will die with pride for once. Don't take that from me."

I frowned and opened my mouth to speak, but, I was stopped by pale lips pressing against mine with determination.

I would have pushed Scourge the Hedgehog away at this sick excuse of a kiss, but, I could not. He was a dying soul and I could feel it within his lips, I could feel him fade off into the dark abyss. As a parting gift for the dying hedgehog, and the one who, which I will never admit out loud, saved me from myself, I kissed back.

Scourge smirked against my lips and pulled away, looking down at me from his kneeling position that was now starting to falter. "A prize for saving the damsel." He cackled weakly, his body finally succumbing to the pain as he let himself fall against my chest.

I jumped a bit and looked down at him, watching as his eyes fluttered and fought to stay open. "Do a favor for me Stripes..." He whispered, and when I stayed silent, he took that as an inaudible yes.

-

The smoke and the stale stench of blood was too much for me an hour after Scourges death. I had finally pushed myself up upon weak knees to bury the still hedgehog. Once that deed was done and the makeshift grave I made for him was placed, I limped my way out of the woods.

The hours before this scene played out over and over in my head, making me feel a sense of pride for the one who laid his life down for an old, genetically made mistake like me.

Once I was placed in that room, Scourge waited hours before springing to his feet. He had picked me up, his arms wrapped around my waist as he jumped out the window that was behind me. I still remember watching the glass shatter all around us, shimmering like diamonds in the low light and rain speckled air, as we dropped down five stories and miraculously surviving.

He had made a soldier our landing pad, using the man's shoulders to push himself off into to the woods. The soldier, however, was not pleased and fired his AK-47 at us and the bullets pelted our bodies with smooth precision.

Now, an hour later, his body was buried under a large oak and I was limping away from what couldn't be saved.

-

It's funny, isn't it? When you have no one to go to, you go right back to the person who left you to rot. When I arrived at Sonic's door I wasn't expecting the two-tailed fox to be the one waiting for me. His blue eyes raised up from their spot on the soaked grass, a look of shock swirled around his gaze.

"Shadow!? What happened!?" He hollered as he stood up from the porch steps, not hesitating to stumble over to me in a hurry. I didn't get a chance to explain, as he grabbed my hand and pulled me into the house.

It wasn't the warmth, or the sudden shelter from the pelting rain that made my body freeze, it was the strong aroma of Sonics' scent on the still air that did.

As much as my legs locked up, I couldn't be stopped as the short, yellow fox forcefully brought me into the kitchen. Tails pulled out a chair with one hand and sat me in it with the other. I went still when his baby blue eyes locked on to my crimson red ones.

"You were shot, I have to get the bullets out before you can properly heal. May I?" He asked professionally and I nodded, although it was vague, Tails took it as a valid answer and started to do his job.

As Tails centered his eyes on my chest, with tools in hand, a pair of red and polished sneakers appeared in my peripheral vision. I looked up at emerald eyes and just stared. Sonic stared back, his hand on his hip as he watched me with an emotion I saw in Scourges eyes before he died; pride.
