Chapter 19- Make It Work

After their date, they were pretty much hooked on one another. Each day they talked on the phone and texted. In addition, they would video chat as well. Their relationship was no secret. All of his friends knew. It was no surprise, each one of them saw it coming. There were occasional jokes made, but no one could deny that Serronie was the best looking girl Zachary ever dated. Jesse always made it his business to give Zachary props, and in the same breath, turn around and warn him about Serronie. He would go on and on about how girls like her couldn’t be trusted. Zachary snubbed his rants, and chalked it up to him being jealous.

They visited each other at school on occasion. Serronie was too proud to flaunt Zachary around her classmates. Sarah was one of the people that had to sit back and watch their relationship blossom. She never considered the fact that Zachary really liked Serronie. To her dismay, the attraction was genuine. Sarah would try to start up with Serronie now and then, but she always disregarded Sarah. Zachary’s ex Amber tried desperately to get him back, especially after hearing about Serronie, and even more so after she saw her. He wasn’t even tempted. Amber made so many offers and prepositions of encounters with no strings attached, but he haply declined.

Despite their small distance, Zachary and Serronie saw each other a regular basis. Serronie officially cut off Julius, severing all ties. Her full focus romantically was on Zachary. Though Zachary still had plenty girls after him, he shot them down left and right. Some of the girls had been involved with him for the longest, and couldn’t understand why he stopped all communication. He struggled to make that move simply because of the restraints on his and Serronie’s relationship. She was convicted about staying a virgin until marriage. He tried to convince her many times that he wasn’t going anywhere, so they could have sex, and it would be the same thing. He planned on marrying her at some points anyways. Unfortunately for Zachary, she wasn’t having it. Though she had a feeling that Zachary was the one, she refused to jump the gun, and make a potential mistake.

He didn’t put pressure on her, but that didn’t stop him from pressing the issue and trying his luck now and then. Their limited relationship kept everything brand new. Two years flew right before their eyes. Graduation happened for the both of them. Serronie and her family moved to Houston. She was going to make that move regardless, but it just so happened that she came into contact with an editor that got her a sweet book deal. They would care for her on a scholarship level; an apartment, regular pay, just so long as she made noticeable progress on the book she was writing. It was her dream, she jumped at the opportunity. Plans of college were in her near future as well, but the book was her first priority. Zachary hated school and had no desire to go to college. His spot at his dad’s company was always guaranteed for his taking.

She outgrew Baytown long before they left. There was no longer anything of any sort keeping her there besides Kate. Serronie didn’t stress that situation because no matter what, Kate was always going to be somewhere near because she was still in cahoots with Jesse. Once Serronie was in town with Zachary, they were inseparable. Zachary’s mother loved Serronie; and she’d only met his dad a few times because he stayed in Dallas to run the family business. His dad’s sacrifice was the reason Zachary lived such a comfortable life. He never spoke much on the situation of his parents. Serronie’s parents were crazy about Zachary. They were impressed by his protective and provider instinct towards their daughter. He was always seeking to make sure he gave her everything she wanted and needed, sometimes competing with her parents. They were certainly in love though. When their third year together approached, things were sure to get shaken up.
