Chapter 2- My friend the wood nymph

Chapter 2

Patiance’s POV

I don’t know where to go, but then I realise the only place I can go that will make me feel safe is Golden Gate bridge. I have to walk there because I don’t have a license because my father wants me to focus more on magic, I don’t have money to catch a bus and lastly I don’t want to use magic, cause that’s where my problems are originating.

On my way to the bridge I realise that I can’t get on the bridge unless I levitate, so I consider making a compromise and going to the park. Once there I see things that make me want to be normal, even more than usually I want to, go to a normal school and knowing that I can’t hurt anyone, that I don’t have to hide from anyone and lastly I see a couple making out on a bench, I want love. That’s the one thing that I want the most, apart from being normal, to just have a boyfriend and find and have head over heels love.

There are guys at school, but they are either jerks or dorks and I have limited choices, I don’t even know if I want a magical boyfriend, why do I have to be a ‘charmed ones’ daughter. ‘The special child’, the gifted one’.

After about 10 minutes, I arrive and I go to a spot deep in the park were there’s a little waterfall and lily patch, it’s the spot where I like to go when I’m upset and need to be with my best friend Paige. Paige has been my best friend since I was 7 and she lives here, not too far away from me, she is  practically a sister to me and she is very close to my family as she has lost hers. Her parents died from a demon attack when she was 7 that is actually how we met.

That was the worst day of my and her life but since then I regularly see her and she is the only thing that is keeping me from getting rid of my powers once and for all. But Paige is also one of the reasons I don’t want to go back to school as she is a wood nymph and not a witch she is not aloud at Magic School, which is really stupid.

I finally find the waterfall and straight away I yell “Paige, Paige come out I need to talk to you” All of a sudden I hear a voice behind me “Hey, what’s up”, I turn around to see Paige siting on a rock near the waterfall. I quickly run to her and give her a massive hug and start crying in her arms, she tries to calm me down. She whispers into my ear “Patty please tell me what’s wrong”, I didn’t hesitate I knew I could tell her anything.

So we sat there talking for about 45minutes and I told her everything, from dad coming in and scaring me, to him finding the relinquishing spell, and to the part where I said she was the only reason stopping me from relinquishing my powers.

Paige knew the whole time that I was with struggling being magical and she promised not to tell my parents about it and she also knew I made a relinquishing spell and begged me never to take it.

If it wasn’t for her I probably would have done it by now and I would be free of magic but Paige is more important to me.

Eventually Paige speaks “Patty you know your parents will be looking for you and you can’t keep hiding the fact you hate being magical, you need to talk to them” she says sweetly and like only a best friend could and gives me another hug.

I nod and wipe my eyes before asking “can you come with me to talk to my parents?” She nods and we start walking out of the park.

We suddenly come to a halt when Paige suddenly gets hit by what looks to be like an energy ball I quickly turn around to see a group of demons surrounding us and I didn’t know what to do. I quickly ran to Paige and saw she was only wounded, but I knew if we didn’t get help she was done for.

We were stuck with no escape route and the demons came closer and closer to us, I stood up to protect her. As I stood up I remembered just then that I also kept a potion which transports you to magic school so I quickly told her to look in my bag for it while I held them off.

I knew she didn’t have a lot of energy but she grabbed my bag and started rummaging through it while I tried to distract the demons. I quickly levitated to the air and kicked two of them; I knew that this strategy wouldn’t hold them off for long.

I looked behind me desperately hoping that Paige had found it and she had, it was lying in her hand but she was not conscious, I quickly ran over to her and grabbed the potion. The leader of the pack looked at me and said evilly “I’ll be back and next time you won’t be so lucky” as he knew I was about to get away.

I quickly grabbed onto Paige and threw the potion it soon transported us, we landed in the safety of magic school, landing us in the library and teachers suddenly came rushing to our aid. I tell them to take Paige until I notice she wasn’t the only one who had been hit. I looked at my hand and then my hip and saw a gash and suddenly I fell while they were taking Paige away.

I suddenly started losing consciousness, the last thing I remember was that I am on my side watching as school kids gather round from all directions and that’s the last thing I saw.
