Patiance’s POV
“Excuse Me” I hear a voice behind I quickly turn around to see Matt standing there, is he stalking me or something, no he too cute with his black hair and his black eyes, not to mention his tats. But I told myself not to get caught up with boys this year, focus. Oh why couldn’t he have come last year?
“Would you like to dance?” he asks sweetly. Just say no, say no. How can I say no to him he is so hot, I gave Paige one of those ‘help me’ looks but I don’t think she got the message?
“Go on, I’ll be fine” she said, not exactly what I was expecting to hear but she still gave me an answer, so I took his hand and he led me onto the dance floor. The song was Pinks very own ‘Raise your glass’. Ok Patiance you can survive a dance, one dance that is all it has to be, I got this.
“This is my favourite song” I say before he puts his hands around my waist and I put my hands around his neck. We danced for a while and I still didn’t want to let go, but I turned my head to see Paige still by herself I feel so bad. I know I know I said one song but the more and more we talked and I looked into his eyes it was getting next to impossible to be able to pull away.
“You look really nice tonight” I look Matt in the eyes and smiled at him and my cheeks started to heat up, it was kind of a cheesy thing but I like cheesy.
“Thanks, you don’t look so bad yourself” I say as I look at him, he was wearing some nice jeans not baggy just plain jeans and a white singlet with a vest, smart casual I like it.
“Thanks, it took me hours” he said jokingly, I laughed at him. A boy with a sense of humour I might need to keep him around, I mean as a friend of course, what else would I mean?
The next song came on and it was a slow song, he looked at me but before he could say or do anything I moved closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder, I hope he doesn’t mind. I once again look over at Paige but this time there was something there with her, it was definitely a guy but whom?
I tried really hard to figure out who it was without pulling too far away from Matt, he was definitely good looking from what I could see. We haven’t talked much about boys and Paige doesn’t know much about them or what to do around them oh I hope she will be alright.
“Are you alright?” I hear Matt whisper into my ear I got a little shiver from his voice, why did I get a shiver I just met him.
“I’m fine, do you want to get a drink” I ask him politely, I hope he doesn’t take it offensively because I am having an amazing time, how could I not, but we will be just friends but I am just really thirsty.
“Sure” he said before I grabbed his hand and led him towards the drinks table, he poured me a drink and handed it to me, he is really sweet.
“So why did you move to magic school” I asked to make conversation.
He rubbed his head “My powers were getting me into trouble and my mum wants me to be somewhere where I can be myself and not somewhere where I don’t want to be”, he tells me truthfully. Wait he wants to be here, why can’t I feel like that, then I wouldn’t be such a disappointment to my parents.
“I wish I felt like “, I say to myself, he obviously heard me because of the look I am getting, he looks puzzled and confused.
“Sorry, hey let’s go back and dance” I say. Before he could say another word I pulled him back on the dance floor.
The night was almost over when I heard “Everyone this is the last song of the night” I was a bit sad because it was such a fun night and I didn’t want it to end I was hoping that he felt the same way, I could check.
I used my powers to hear what he was thinking ‘Wow I can’t believe she’s been with me this whole night, I am so lucky’. Oh my God he is the sweetest person I have ever met and we only just met, I kiss him on the cheek.
“What was that for” he asked with a grin on his face our eyes are locked now.
“It’s a thank-you for tonight, it’s been amazing” I was secretly hoping he would kiss me or ask me out or something but he didn’t and the song came to an end. I know, I know but Matt was different he seems like a caring and a really nice guy, there aren’t many of those around here anymore.
“Good-bye” he told me reluctantly before turning away, wow I was really hoping the night would end on a better note but it’s ok, I need to go find Paige.
I see Paige in a deserted part of the dance floor and see some girls looking at them and I see who the guy is. Of course it has to be George or Tom as he likes to be called the schools Mr popular, I should have guessed. Before I get to them I see him kiss her hand and leave, I have to admit that was very sweet.
“Someone had a good time” I say mockingly to Paige coming up behind her, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Well I’m not the only one” she tells me and was looking at someone behind me, I turned around to see Matt ,I started to blush, yeah I did have a good time but I want to know what happened between her and George.
“Shut up, so what was happening over here, with you and George?” I say with one eye wider than the other.
“Not much, except he asked me to dinner tomorrow night” she told me kind of shyly; OMG he didn’t this is so amazing that boy doesn’t ask anyone out especially not newbies, wow.
“What, OMG do you know how many girls want him, but I mean who could resist you” I say, she starts to blush a little she is so cute.
“Hey, but what about you and Matt” she says to me saucily trying to change the subject, I look at her with one of those ‘don’t even go there looks’.
“I don’t think I like your tone, but nothing hap…” I say before being turned around and feeling someone’s lips pressed against mine, it was a nice kiss but before it went deeper they pulled away I opened my eyes to see Matt standing there. He kissed me, I know that might seem childish to say but who cares.
“Patiance, would you like to go out with me, sometime” he said he could not choose better timing, I thought it through but I already knew my answer and that kiss made me even more sure.
“Ok, but not tomorrow” I told him, it can’t be tomorrow I have to help Paige with her date; wow this is really weird we both got dates on the same night, coincidence much.
“How about this weekend” he says hopingly, I know I said no boys but a girl is known to change her mind once or twice.
“Can’t wait” I say with a bit of a giggle, he smiles and leaves us in shock, wow wow wow I can’t believe that just happened.
“You were saying” Paige said mockingly, I stared at her and she stared back and crack and laughed.
“Come on Paige, let’s go to bed we start school tomorrow” I linked her arm with a big smile on my face. This is definitely a night I will not forget.
