Take the Risk
Maybe I was wrong. Not about Chris. Hell no, I'd still rather be wearing denim underwear for the rest of my life than do anything after work with Chris. No, I wasn't wrong about that. I was wrong about the fact that I'd be eating lunch with the boys. As I'm sitting here across the booth with Liam, I see a lack of boy bands in here, and it's making me nervous. It's making me recite one question over in my mind.
Is this a date?
"So it's just us?" I questioned, watching as Liam looked at his menu. I wanted to be subtle when questioning him, but he wasn't getting the point, only responding with a nod of the head. "I thought when you called, the rest of the boys would be coming."
"So you don't want to be here with me?" I almost felt bad, but the idiot was smirking. He knew what he was doing.
And don't blame me for being turned on. I love a guy that's cocky. And before you mention Chris, Just know that there's a difference between being cocky and being egocentric and disrespectful.
"It's not that," I reassured, hoping to think on my feet. I liked Liam, but I didn't want him to know how I felt before September 15th when he was out of America.
He just blankly nodded along, not believing me. "Oh it's not?"
"Nope." I had no idea what I was doing. Ooh. I can tell him all about Chris. "I'm just glad to be out of the studio."
"Tough day?" Understatement of the year. "Too much tension with your Romeo?"
Ew. "Definitely not." Although... "Not on my end at least."
"Tell me more. Tell me more." He sang dryly. "Like does he have a car?"
Oh, I get it. He's being a dick on purpose. "You asshole. Are you mocking me?"
"I might be."
Okay. I got his game. "Well that's a bummer," I added a pout that Louis had taught me, that useful tart. I stuck out my bottom lip slightly, but not over exaggerated. "I wanted to talk seriously with you." I accompanied my comment by dragging my foot up Liam's shin, over his knee, and towards his groin by the inner thigh.
The smirk that previously graced his face was gone and replaced with a hard glare. "Isyss."
Was that a warning or an encouragement? I really couldn't tell the difference. Oh well, let's guess. "Liam." Though his words were a bit harsh and curt, mine was... Well it was a straight up moan, followed by my foot gliding along his inner thigh.
Quicker than a girl on her menzies, he shut his legs threw my foot down. He looked angry, but I have to hand it to him for lifting my post-Wakefield mood. "So can I tell you about my new movie now?"
"If you keep all limbs to yourself," he offered. "Then of course."
As I'm a master of all trades, I let a giant smile spread, prompting Liam to do the same. See, even with all this sexual tension, we're still amazing people. I told him about the multitude of inappropriate comments/gestures Chris had made at work. His introduction, the feisty comment, the ass slap, and the invitation out to lunch.
Liam seemed a bit upset. "And they're still letting him work there?"
"JD saw everything happened. I don't think he understands." Which is probably true. I'm decent at staying stoic in uncomfortable situations, meaning I may have come off as indifferent to his comments. It's not an excuse, though. There shouldn't have been any miscommunication because regardless of how I was acting, it's still inappropriate.
